Hey guys and gals, just registered!
Ive been interested in free parties since one of my mates went to one a few months back. My musical interests include Fat Boy Slim, Infusion, Lemon Jelly, Moby, Chemical Brothers, and The Prodigy. Im also into Funk and Acid Jazz (EG Diplo and Tripledouble). I was just pondering, what’s the best way to find out about free parties in my area, considering how the police monitor these forums, so you just cant say outright dates, times and locations. Any advice/criticism would be ace!
If you want information on private, invite only parties, though, go to your local club on a night that’s playing music not dissimilar to party music (techno, psy-trance and all that ‘repetative beats’ nonsense) and speak to people there. This is how a lot of people have been passed their invites.
The only other way I can advise you is to drive through the countriside on any given weekend and listen for the bass coming from just over the next hill…
(techno, psy-trance and all that ‘repetative beats’ nonsense)
Thank for the advice but I just want to clarify, ‘repetative beats’ nonsense, or as we call it up in the north west ‘scouse house’ (you know, the ‘unst-unst’ repeated baseline with some crappy female whining vocal sample. Good eg? ‘Pretty Green Eyes’) is something i hate. I have a great deal of respect for Dj’s who avoid this kind of rubbish. I mean, have you heard the adverts for most ‘mainstream dance compilations’? That repeating baseline is the same in nearly all of those tracks, so even a deaf monkey wouldn’t find it hard to link those tracks together!
Just so you know, when I referred to repetative beats, I was talking about the now infamous sentence in the CJA. I was hoping that, with your screen name, you would have noticed the irony.
Hopefully, you can find your way to some parties to realise what I am actually talking about.
Remember, though, even if I was talking about commercial house, isn’t it my right to like what I like?
