For sure Tankers. It’s also why I find people who profess that they don’t enjoy any kind of music so alien and strange. I don’t trust them.

The only thing I can put it down to is that music taps in to emotions and maybe they are trying to withhold emotion for whatever reason.

… oh and no need for an apology. It was just a question. No offence taken at all.

i think I’m gonna have to do some research into this as I am aware of other methods of re-living, or re-experiencing, and i would like to know what part of the brain music taps into – as its got to be to do with one of the sences

……or I might just ask my mate who is doing a masters or doctorate in neuroscience 😉

Even the hard right wing of Northern Europe makes much use of music as part of their recruitment including much classical music and the piano, perhaps more so than the stereotypical “Germanic death metal” they are wrongly associated with. In fact most of these bands, as scarey as they might be are progressive in their politics, and the hard right ones come from just about every other country than DE (where they are censored anyway).

However there are certainly are people around who genuinely do not enjoy music or consider it irrelevant and yet are not mentally ill or depressed. Some of these people genuinely focus more on business or getting ahead in their chosen field (often in science or engineering) such as one senior manager from a local computer chip manufacturer.

Unfortunately they do tend to have very puritan views, as this person was happy to admit that if he was at a party and saw drugs being consumed, he’d first grit his teeth and get as much info as possible, then quietly make excuses to leave the party, call 999 and pass on as much info as he could remember to the Police (and this man was of extremely high intelligence). He had no qualms whatsover about losing lifetime friends from this action as he felt it was the right thing to do in line with the law.

Although I expect he doesn’t get invited to very many parties, I believe he still holds a position of significant authority in the UK electronics industry due to his skills. Ironically half the gadgets you own probably contain chips made by one of his employers.

DUH. Loads of reasons why people avoid the topic of “musicality”.

Being stone deaf is a pretty strong one, but there are many areas of creativity. Music is very close to being “universal donor” but there are exceptions and they are just as human as everybody else.
