if Matsushita/Panasonic still have any factories left in Europe it wouldn’t be impossible, although I would expect them to end up at a price where only the full on hi fi anoraks could afford them. I only changed to digital as I mix different genres nowadays (which aren’t released on vinyl) and didn’t have enough space in my workshop/studio for turntables as well as everything else.
I fear what has really happened is not so much the electronic components being discontinued but the skills to manufacture these items to high mechanical tolerances being lost as there is a whole generation that hasn’t been taught these skills; also the “professional” divisions of the Japanese companies are no longer as profitable as before due to the decline in traditional media and broadcast production, so they haven’t been recruiting. I saw an article in the EBU tech magazine about the new HD TV cameras and all the engineers there from both Japanese and Chinese companies were around age 50-70.
