http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/banksy/
basically Banky’s atrwok is wickid & it shouldn’t be removed!
February 15, 2008 at 1:24 pm #1155465That’s a difficult one. I like Banksy’s work but if they allowed him to graff then how do they tell others it’s not ok? A lot of graff is shit hot and i think it should stay. On the other hand there is a whole load of shite scrawled out there.
How can we decide what’s acceptable and what’s not. It will send out the wrong message in my opinion.
Sorry to sound like an old fart.

lemme seeerchFebruary 15, 2008 at 4:55 pm #1155467basically it was on about hypocrisy of the government, tolerating banksy’s work because they are worth something and in the public eye, yet they sentenced two talented manc graff artists to 15 months for criminal damage

February 16, 2008 at 1:36 am #1155470I don’t think his work should be removed, as unlike shit-looking scribbled tags downgrading an area, his stuff is art and someone who’d got it on their wall or whatever is lucky really

February 16, 2008 at 10:54 am #1155476I think Mr banky has come to Hemel. Next to our blockbusters a ‘portrait’ of a man has appeared but it’s really high up! Might of been a copycat but it does have the characteristics of a banky!
I hope they don’t remove it cos it’s made a rather uninteresting wall stand out:love:

because having badly drawn scribbled letters all over a wall which only represents a crew or gang name and devalues it, having a meaningful piece of art which people are prepared to pay thousands for is clearly better!

February 16, 2008 at 2:25 pm #1155463in some cases banksys are only removed to stop them being stolen and sold on the black market!
I’m becoming increasingly suspicious of this whole banksy thing though.
I appreciate he is a good artist…
but if anyone else sprays political slogans on walls or any sort of slogan they will get nicked.
this man has allegedly been photographed a few times. His name has been mentioned in the media. He even has an agent.
How come he’s not even been questioned once or at the very least “encouraged” to donate some of his revenue to environmental services of one of the councils?
I think he must have friends in high places who are ensuring he gets treated as a “proper artist” rather than just any other graffer.
Also as a council tax payer I don’t particularly agree with giving Whitehall the right to override the decision of a local council in this manner..IMO the decision should be for the nearest residents then the council.
