NO, NO, NO!
it doesn’t.
you went to shefstock – did that go against your ethics…? on 2nd thoughts, i don’t want to open that can o’ worms again  :crazy_diz
“free” as in free/autonomous space – freedom to express yourself, and free from capitalist exploitation (if i’m not getting over the top here:bounce_fl ). As has been said many many times, free parties are not free to put on, they cost someone something. This party, although might cost around £25 to get in, nobody is making a profit here, its done for the love of it, and so glo (& whoever else helps him out) doesn’t end up out of pocket.
If the only reason you go to free parties is cause you like to rip people off by refusing to donate, then maybe this would be against your ethics (not saying u are like that spark)

I am fairly sure we have about 10 members from Devon actually Glo its just that they dont post much so others may have misssed them.
I think Devon is a great idea and I have to drive 2 hours to reach carlisle then down to devon which is another 400 miles. I plan to have a vehicle with at least 3 people in it to share some of the costs..

Maybe you should put it in a different way, the guys of SJ manage to have a meet up. Why cant PV do the same. (theres might have been Alton towers or Something though)
I thought that ravers always talk about being united in fighting for something, at the moment it looks like we cant even arrange a piss up in brewery!
Any hows i am more than up for this!
A PV party would be something to remember………………………….. raaa
Im that up for this that Im really really seriously considering getting back to the UK for it Im sitting here thinking “I can get a return ticket from here for maybe 750 quid and its only a 12-13hr flight from Brunei my closest airport “thats how much I would like to get to this party raaa raaa raaa

there’s cheap flights from edinburgh, takes about an hour, but not ideal if you’re bringing loads of equipment

September 13, 2007 at 1:08 pm #1119970Devon is a long way away from me, and is difficult to get to as I don’t drive and things.. I suppose I could get a train but it’s going to be about 40 pounds for me plus the 25 entry fee (which I don’t mind at all, it’s just the train… TRAINS ARE A WASTE OF MONEY!), and I’m only earning just under 150 pounds a week… and on top of that, I don’t know my way around Devon really, which means I’ll probably have to get a few taxis – which will cost me even more money if it’s out the way.
I’d rather have it in a place sort of central to everyone, or near enough anyway… but then that’s me lol, if everyone is fine with the idea then that’s fine, just don’t think I’d be able to make it.
Devon is a long and difficult way for people who are travelling from up North as well, or so I think anyway.
Out of all my friends only one drives, and he doesn’t like raves and preaches how much of a metal head he is all the time and things. Personally, I think he doesn’t know what he’s missing out on – he’s never even been to a rave!! But there you go lol.
Sorry to be awkward eek!
It would be cool to have somewhere slightly closer, but if Devon is the most easiest option for everyone then that’s fine… I will make it down there somehow!!! Maybe find some form of liftage from some kind person who doesn’t mind a quiet/shy [until wasted] Shelley being in their car! ^_^

September 13, 2007 at 1:36 pm #1119917As someone who has always lived in London/SE England (where stuff was more closer together) and is now in East Anglia (which is itself a very large region) and also doesn’t own a car I understand the travel problems
but Globaloon is doing us a big favour.
We could have done a PV free party 10 years ago when this place first started or maybe even in 2002/3 but ironically we didn’t need to as all our users already had lively party scenes in their “home areas”, as well as a fair few teknivals.
now things have been changed. the “freedom” we had got abused and its been taken away.
If we overtly tried hosting any unlicensed event using this site the authorities could get a Court Order on our server company and start demanding the personal info of people, as this site would be an accessory to a crime. It doesn’t matter that our server is in a foreign nation because our cops have international agreements to get this info.
Free parties are no longer seen as harmless mischief. They are seen as medium level organised crime – an illegal event where a lot of drugs is sold and consumed, and where anti-social behaviour and sometimes even violence occurs – not just against the Police but within the people attending.
The cops and NHS have actual real proof of these problems, not to mention the knock on effects of drug use and addiction.
also if we are realistic, by may 2008 there will doubtless be more “robust” procedures in place for dealing with illegal parties. it doesn’t need parliament debate and new laws, just more resources to make better use of existing surveillance and enforcement techniques, and the cops are already being given these resources.
TENS is the one olive branch the system has given us, maybe we should use it whilst its still there.
