October 9, 2002 at 1:54 pm #1059367AnonymousAlthough Headfuk have been staging less parties as time has gone on, it means that we would rather put on parties that are quality with a lot to engage the ravers…. not just by playing fresh, original live sets, but also with the visual side of things.
This is something that has created the Hardcore Conspiracy parties of 2001 and the Synthetic Circus parties of this year…. we just had one of those here in London last weekend and the next one will be in December some time.We would definitely be up for you showing your stuff and can arrange a data projector for your use. Where are you based Twinkletoez and can you possibly send us a tape of your stuff beforehand?
Contact me at info@headfuk.org

the main fun feature is that arkaos controlled by a midi key board, with loads of images and effects and clips, the keyboard has loads of knobs and sliders to control the effect variables. the mixer has around thiirtyfive effects and stuff, is used to blend with the pre programmed stuff from winamp when we want abreak or a boogie..sweeeeeeeeeet.
if any one wants to display work theyre proud of, drop me an email..

May 6, 2004 at 10:54 pm #1059372I used to work in the TV industry as a projects engineer, designing, commisioning and installing equipment used in TV studios worldwide. I have a fair bit of experience with professional and consumer video equipment both digital and analogue, and built my first digital video editing PC in the mid 90s (it is a lot easier to do now!)
My attempts to move into professional production unfortunately coincided with massive downsizing in the global media industry and my engineering job ended due to my employers losing a lot of money on a dot-com venture; so these days my day job is developing financial software for the public sector – however I still have my interest and skills and lately have got back into video editing and production (still working on the March sokaid footage).
Anyway I’m happy to help those who are doing projections, visuals, even short movies.
I’m fully aware of the security issues with footage of parties and am usually one of the first to point these out to every idealistic media studies student or young journo who thinks it would be a good idea to make a documentary, but can’t see too much of a problem with short bits of footage of raves for internal use by crews as visuals.. (there are lots of video FX you can use to obscure items you don’t want shown on the final edit!)
These days equipment is a lot cheaper than it used to be, the quality of even cheaper DV cams is amazing (BTW a lot of broadcast telly is shot on consumer DV cams these days) and its a lot easier to set up a DV editing suite to put together your footage using a standard PC…
however its also easy to get into a lot of confusion with codecs and also when converting between digital and analogue formats.
Also if your shooting your own footage it helps to know the tricks on how to make it look good without spending too much money (and a lot of what is taught in media studies classes is bare rubbish)
So if anyone here is doing videos, visuals or projections (provided its not snuff movies, extreme porn or anything that would get people in serious trouble!) and wants help please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me either here or on partyvibe…

January 18, 2005 at 3:15 pm #1059377AnonymousFor all you budding VJ’s out there, im in the process of starting up a vj agency, which will be free to join and get you gigs at a variety of clubnights, if that be your bag.
The other service is that any vjs on our books should send us their material and we will rent the dvd’s to the clubs.
pm me if you’re interested, or have any ideas as to how the idea could be taken furthur….
ps any VJ’s in the south east, Primal Visions is well ready for some collaborative shit. we’ve cracked arkaos (more or less) and now want something a bit more tech to get our teeth into. VJamm? Resolume? Any suggestions?
January 24, 2005 at 1:29 pm #1059370AnonymousYeah, i’ve been doing visuals for a while now, worked with coldcut, Yeast, pirate tv, Raya, loads of well know reggae artists including Horace Andy, had films screened in trafalgar square, been in the newspapers, played at the Astoria, Ocean in Hackney, all over Brixton, concord in Brighton, the Custard Factory in Birmingham etc etc
If you need help with visuals get in touch!

August 11, 2005 at 12:02 am #1059371Anonymoushello there,
6/8/05 > fabulous, nice venue 😉
greetz and thanx to headfuk crew and vj ex-illuminati (fil!) for the party.
4th time i’ve vj’ed @ headfuk this year and always is a fantastic time.software i use is http://opentzt.sourceforge.net/
its free (opensource) and beats akaos (fisher price style), resolume (slow as f and awful ui) and motion dive into pulp.Of course owning them all is good, check this list that all support freeframe plugins
http://freeframe.sourceforge.net/
diy projector is by all means possible, excellent advice and plans availible here :
however quality / brightness / reliability / ease of use etc of such homemade units is low compared to the price of a new beamer. these are cheap now 😉
rock n roll, and more of that stuff that turned my sunday into robotworld
