Doesn’t sound like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGf2wKDV-v8It all comes down to opinion though.. What you think is the ‘best band ever’ might be different from mine, as is the case. You can’t say that band X is one of the best because who defines what the best is.. it’s just opinion.
Go with the flow and no one knows are just overplayed lol. QOTSA also show musical progression and each album is diffferent and i don’t make them out to be gods, just one of my favourite bands as radiohead are yours.February 12, 2013 at 12:31 am #1266817@p0ly 524529 wrote:

QOTSA also show musical progression and each album is diffferent and i don’t make them out to be gods, just one of my favourite bands as radiohead are yours.i haven’t heard go with the flow or no one knows for years and years… so to me, they aren’t overplayed. once upon a time when i was 13 and watched mtv then yes… it was overplayed… that was ten years ago.
and bro… seriously that album does mostly sound the same there’s 14 tracks.
radiohead aren’t actually my favourite artist… not in my top 5 for sure… possibly top 10 but i’ve never made a top 10 and it’s an ever changing thing.
but there comes a point… when the opinion argument just fails…. it’s not what you like, some music actually is better for a number of reasons… i mean… look at this…?! if you’ve never heard it or seen it check it out… especially if you fancy asian girls as much as me…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq7ftOZBy0E
it’s pure shit, poor quality fake manufactured soulless crap… there is no opinion…. it is! people may enjoy it, people may hold it to be their favourite. but it’s fucking shit and i stick by what i say here 😛

p0ly man, I’m sorry to say this as I’ve kept my silence on the subject, but her music’s terrible and she looks like Michael Jackson!
You seem to like what I would regard as wrist-slitting music though, nothing wrong with that, a lot of people like it, but stuff like Radiohead and Sigur Ros genuinely makes me want to commit suicide. Can’t see how people say it’s uplifting, but that’s the thing about music – different strokes for different folks and all that, innit?

Indeed I would best describe it as the polar opposite of the type of music I am into. BUT I fully understand why people like that style of music. It just doesn’t float my boat. My X loved all that stuff and used to play it while I was getting ready for work etc. Odd really I prefer a good bit of techno in the morning to fire up my cylinders in the morning LOL

Same here mate, need music that gets me moving and gets the heart pumping. Like you, I can understand why people like that other style, it’s just not my personal cup of tea.
February 12, 2013 at 3:24 pm #1266886I disagree… what is considered good music is all about opinion.
Sure, I may think Tinie Tempah is a piece of shit with crappy music as I’m pretty sure you will too, but others will think his music is really good.
Likewise with Radiohead, I think they’re shit, you love them, fair enough.February 12, 2013 at 3:50 pm #1266859@DeezNuts 524534 wrote:

No there’s only one strokes for folks and that’s ‘The Strokes’.
I just feel sorry for thy.. as I can appreciate pretty much all music.. I listen to ‘wrist slitting’? i never understood how a song could depress someone to be perfectly honest.

Here’s a list of all my sorted out folder music of genres which I learn every song to and delete stuff I do not like so I have a lot of material and have been building for ten years+
Shame people cannot get the high level of musical enjoyment as moi as I rock out to 50’s music and 60’s all the time and love it… and grime, hip hop, minimal, hardtek, ska, reggae etc… avid fan of it all.
Just listening to Techno or DnB can be a bit annoying so I need to alternate… EDM is so abstract it’s sometimes nice to have music with intelligent depth and meaning to the songs which are difficult to decipher and can have different meanings for everyone… Aphex twin said in one of his interviews his music has no meaning, the names to his songs have no meaning they just sound nice, he doesn’t even like being called aphex twin (having an identity cos he finds them boring) he just has to to sell records so he doesn’t have to work at mcdonalds and you have to have an identity to sell records.
I mean LONDON ACID CITY x50 OUR TIME IS NOW!! LONDON ACID CITY x50 is fun to listen to sure..
As for bjork she even had jungle/breakcore beats in her new album… At first I just didn’t get it… i had loads of her albums at 15 and wasn’t feeling it then one day I actually began listening and the beauty hit me!! Bjork is PRO!!

Ha ha, no need to feel sorry for me mate, I have nothing against Bjork or Radiohead, but their music sounds depressing as hell to me, so I don’t listen to it.
If you love music as much as you say you do, then surely you can understand why I say some things sound depressing – that’s the great thing about music, it can make you happy, sad, angry, whatever, depending on your personal preferences and the instruments and lyrics that are used to make that music.
Like you, I don’t just listen to ‘EDM’ (god, I hate that phrase), I have fairly diverse tastes, but for whatever reason, I just can’t listen to stuff that my brain interprets as ‘wrist-slitting’ music. Like Deez said, music’s all about opinion – that’s not to say one opinion’s right or better than another, but these opinions (on everything, not just music) are what make up who we are as individuals. They define and even pre-determine our actions.

Music releases dopamine in me always, so if i do feel sadness from a song it’s a blissful happy beautiful sadness which brings depth to the music and i enjoy it more. I don’t ever and never have felt depressed from a song. honestly.
February 12, 2013 at 8:42 pm #1266759acid techno wah wah wah
February 12, 2013 at 8:42 pm #1266820Whats ‘enjoyable’ is subjective,
But what is a ‘good piece of music” is pretty much objective. Some artists are good, and you can tell they are good by the intricacy and skill in their song writing.
For example I dont LIKE GnR but I can tell they are very good and very skilled musicians. Some groups like JLS are shit, fact. Because its very unemotive and uses droll cliche lyrics and bland repetitive beats (i know loads of people who say they like a shit artist even though they know they are shit)
Music being an ‘art’ and not ‘noise’ depends on whether or not it evokes a feeling.
Wether that be ‘energetic’ (techno) or ’emotional’ (bjork)So maybe you dont ‘like ‘ bjork or radiohead. But you cannot deny they are good musicians and deserve artistic merit.
As for saying sigur ros are depressing, that only exemplifies you have not heard them before. Sigur ros are the opposite of depressing. They are in fact etherial and their songs are usually about happiness and childhood.
Untitled 3 (Samskeyti) – Sigur Ros [Paulstretch] – YouTubeFebruary 12, 2013 at 8:46 pm #1266887I never denied that they were good musicians – if you go to my original post you’ll see I said – I RESPECT THEM MUSICALLY
Then people got upset and tried to change my opinion on the matter lol.I also never said Sigur Ros was depressing.. I like Sigur Ros..

It was me that said Sigur Ros were depressing I think mate – possibly cos whenever I hear their tunes it’s always at the end of some shit tv show over some moment that’s supposed to be poignant but just makes me want to be sick!
I have nothing personal against these artists and the fact that they’re very successful shows that a lot of people like em – I’m just not one of those people.
