that was first sold in Europe around the time I was born. to be fair the Japanese weren’t lying – it is still regarded as a good machine today (if a well maintained example can be found), and has particularly good frequency response at 19 cm/s tape speed. But a 18 cm wide spool of tape will only get you about an hours recording time.
I was half tempted to buy a Revox B77 or similar from a old hippy bofffin type chap what lives round my way (he converted his whole house to eco friendly power etc) but I haven’t got the room to keep it, and reels of tape are damn expensive these days! They can be good for mastering particularly genres with lots of bass as a level from the mixer what would clip and sound shit on digital would sound “bigger” on this tape. (hard to explain on a forum, you would need to hear it).
