just found out I’ve got to register with some “Individual safeguarding authority” later this year – I was exempt from CRB (although have voluntarily declared my cautions etc) as I don’t have physical contact with vulnerable people and am not operational staff
but with the new rules I have to be registered because as an IT / Finance manager I have full access to clients records and thats a “controlled” activity
this means that apparently I will always be monitored and if I ever get done by Police for anything the details will be noted and passed on to the agency and in some cases my employer
I can see why the rules have to be tightened up like this (because of Ian Huntley case) but its another annoyance in other respects… I am concerned that involvement with the rave scene (particularly in Norfolk) could easily be spun into “links with drug trade at events where vulnerable young people are present” (due to the youth of many involved these days)
and these new ISA things you don’t need to get nicked even, its done via local Intelligence records from each constabulary
looks like its definitely legal events for me from now on..
