No. There not funny. Neither film raise a smile let alone a smirk.

No miserable music is fine, when it comes from the heart. Coldplay how ever it seems a bit put on, savvy?
I still remember all the fuss about the Smiths and their adulation from left wing trendies – when the reality was that they were as ruthless as thatcho’s capitalists with regard to the music biz (in legal dispute with their own label, then signed to a major) and now as rich middle aged men are still fucking whining amongst themselves about money

Given the opportunity most people will bend over for money. Most of those that claim to be anti capitalist would most probably cast their values aside for a nice big pay check.
You think an artist is cool and the next thing you know they’re in an ASDA advert.January 2, 2013 at 8:44 pm #1264775@Izbeckistan 514932 wrote:

yet I’ve found that a lot of “uncool untrendy boring business / office types” are the ones who genuinely are getting involved in positive things outside conventional capitalism.
until this century being part of the music and entertaintment industries were really only available to middle class toffs with connections – now today anyone can be a publisher, broadcaster or produce content (albeit at the expense of the commercial funded industry) which makes reviewers and critics increasingly irrelevant anyway..

I agree with everyone here other then G-Tek.. Shrek & LOTR are fucking awesome man! I actually don’t like Ice Age, but i’ve noticed that the two films actually divide people – most only like one or the other for some reason
Ha ha, looks like I’ve touched a nerve there! Somebody was gonna put something like that in response to my dislikes, but that’s the point of the thread – things that are popular with most people that you personally don’t like, and I don’t like Lord of the Rings. I watched the first film and I look upon it as 3 hours of my life I’ll never get back. As far as I’m concerned, that twat who made them films owes me 3 hours, where is he?

Somewhere in New Zealand i think..
Yeah the first is a bit slow i’ll admit, but it does develop the whole story pretty much. Plus its a journey that originally took Frodo 17 years i believe, condensed into 3 films..
Different strokes for different folks my man!January 3, 2013 at 5:09 pm #1264826@MC G-Tek 515106 wrote:

I didn’t like the movies at all but love all the lord of the rings books.
The hobbit I thought was way better than the other movies, it had had some really sweet lighthearted moment as apposed to just fighting and politics.
I generally avoid all of those Hollywood epic movies as I find the scenes really cliche. (if that makes sense?)January 3, 2013 at 6:09 pm #1264776all that LOTR goes on for way too long (never been much of a movie fan anyway nor of reading fiction books). the only decent bit of I can remember is in the Hobbit when they have the tea party and the dwarves offer to do the washing up but sing a song about trashing Bilibo Baggin’s best china to wind him up..
Chip the glasses and crack the plates!
Blunt the knives and bend the forks!
That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates—
Smash the bottles and burn the corks!Cut the cloth and tread on the fat!
Pour the milk on the pantry floor!
Leave the bones on the bedroom mat!
Splash the wine on every door!Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl;
Pound them up with a thumping pole;
And when you’ve finished if any are whole,
Send them down the hall to roll!That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates!
So, carefully! carefully with the plates!January 3, 2013 at 6:17 pm #1264798…how did i forget red hot chilli peppers!… so many ppl love them, probably even some of u… so ok they’re earlier stuff may not sound wholly like middle of the road drivel, but its not funk, and more noticeably the singer sounds like he is a special needs case… ‘ca-li-for-ni-caaaattiiioonn —- uff, please die quietly somewhere (not realy i dont wish death on anyone, just i dont want to hear chilli peppers and anyone that tells me i dont get it or goes on bout they’re earlier stuff and john frusciante etc can jog on, i dont care, and i dont think u can justifiably say my music tastes are uncultured just cos i think its all sunny american bin juice…

Well you did say you hate jazz so…ignorant uncultured courgette.
But no they should call it a day. They’ve had their time and now it’s done. It’s no surprise John Frusciante left.

i dont hate jazz, i just hate ppl that like jazz, and rhcp was bin juice from the outset that then turned into putrid bin juice with lumpy bits
January 3, 2013 at 6:24 pm #1264849Dude John Frusciante is a sick guitarist and there is some decent jazz about, like there is decent songs from pretty much any genre – why do you hate people that listen to jazz can i ask? Do you mean like the real cliche type jazzheads?
