even got round to doing a system diagram (although this is already out of date lol as I’ve added another soundcard to ZA-PC01 – this is going to be used for streaming/metering/clocks but it can also handle carts playout well as there is another keyboard above the MPX-10 directly connected to this one)

thats what comes of living in zero tolerance area for events…and gives me something to do when I can’t make noise… plus its the only way I can keep track of all the damn cables… (to be fair compared to Channel 4’s master control room for E4/digital (which I had to set up andtest back in the 90s) its a small system….

carts are now played from ZA-PC01 so there are two independent sources of audio and the main PC audio (ZA-PC02) is separated out so it should be difficult to accidentally play the PC sounds into a live mix (I’ve got them switched off anyway and normally only use this audio when playing out stuff generated from or viewed on this PC, otherwise the MPX10 supplies music from its own soundcards..)

Bigger studios and broadcasters insist on them which is fair enough as otherwise it would be near impossible to keep track of how things are set up…
June 14, 2012 at 11:06 am #1253066I remember having to draw diagrams for our electonics projects in school. But they wern’t anything massive. I think the biggest thing we did was designing a bread board (or maybe it was a circuit board can’t remember) That supported a moisture detecting copper prongs. A membrain swith which closed the circuit, and an LED light and a buzzer that would light up. Now I think about it it may not have been all of those componants on one project ( I may have a flick through my old school books to check some day) But yeah. I’m pretty sure we had to use or resistor ID templates to find out exactly what colour bands we had to use. I want to say that we used a capacitor to but I could be wrong. Maybe it was something else. I think it was the little top hat shaped one cos I remember the teacher telling us the UFO story of how thy came to be. All this ran of a 9volt battery so I am probably getting my wires crossed (see what I did there lol) Anyway for the theory work we had to draw the diagrams which is as far as I have ever gone with that.
Oh in I.T they had us drawing diagrams to do with operating systems word, applications and printers etc. Very boring.
