Small tip i find useful when working on tracks is put a hi-pass filter on the master channel, MIDI assign it to a free parameter you might have on a controller, keys, mix desk etc. you can then sweep through the frequencies of your mix. i find it helps with ear fatigue, especially if all your hearing is boom boom boom all day.

What reason do you need to sweep thru the frequencies?

I find helps me hear what certain intrument/samples are sitting around in the mix & what could be tweaked more or less via EQ or whatever.

Logic space designer is a very nice reverb. Shame it’s logic only

I’ve been using a Lexicon for about 6 months. Definately sounds a lot ‘warmer’ than anything I’ve used before. It’s a bit of a pain though having to go out to hardware and back. It’s got a VST front end though which is nice.

If you really want kick ass synths with software alone you need to learn Reaktor

need to look into that, mucked about with it few years ago. pretty good. NI always make nice synths…have found ”aturia modular moog” pretty sound.

It lets you effectively build your own synth, infinitely customisable.

All the synths on this track are done with Reaktor, my jaw hit the flaw when I found out

Cant believe my nooby post from about 10 months is now a stickey! 😎

Just little update with how ive been getting on for anyone who cares, cheers for the help when i started out aswell.

I tryed out ableton and reason, however i didnt like reason as you couldnt use vst’s. So since then ive been working soley in ableton 8 and have been making dnb for about 9 months now. I have a shitty soundcard in my laptop and about £30 surround sound speakers as monitors :yakk: means i have to refenrce a shit load on other systems. I havent made anything too special yet ill try and get some clips up tommorow of some work, been trying to make something abit orginal and organic tho and not sound like everyman and his dog. I just wish i had the money to get decent mointors, sound proof my room and get a hardware synth/emu sampler!

PS: Making music is so much fun.
