July 13, 2005 at 1:07 am #1066478Anonymousphatness…hope i can get my vid acroos to you soon. it’ll be in good company. also would be good to have more british rave stuff from more recent times…unfortunately my video editing has ground to a halt as our ntsc camera has buckled, and all our footage is in ntsc. and no-one has a cam that we can export from. boo.

August 29, 2005 at 12:32 pm #1066469some good stuff on here…
I’m still working on editing some footage of raves from about a year ago – its a slow process as I’ve probably got a 50:1 shooting ratio (the amount of raw footage compared with what will end up in the finished project), and rather flaky software..
but I’m determined to send up some more stuff (after clearing it will crew people)
we do need more positive rave footage as there is a lot of cop action on there, it needs to be reported but its looking like a reality-TV crime channel!
sorry to hear about USE’s camera trouble. if I come across anyone else with NTSC kit I’ll see if anything can be sorted out… (BTW I’d suggest capturing it and getting it coverted to PAL at the same time).
Unfortunately the Hi8 and some of the miniDV tape transports are fairly delicate and TBH some miniDV cams can’t handle the hammering that device control gives the tape transport when capturing footage.
and next time buy a PAL camera even if it is more expensive – why are people selling NTSC cameras in Europe? Must be some “grey import” deal – beware as the guarantees are often invalid…
Its easy to get caught out as most European tellies will handle NTSC but conversion can be a fucking nightmare. I’m still trying to work out the best way to do this in software – without either losing sound sync or having output which looks shit with jumping frames.
I’ve noticed other European rave crews editing and producing content in NTSC, there’s a lot of stuff on the directory like that. Maybe they got dodgy NTSC cameras as well 🙁
It pisses me off TBH as I was trying to put some of these files on a VCD so friends can watch them on the conventional idiot box and a DVD player if they don’t have a PC, but you can’t mix the two kinds of MPEGs on the same VCD..
If anyone else has conversion tips for the two video standards (such as software to use) please post them – otherwise when/if I suss it out I will post up details here..
August 29, 2005 at 12:37 pm #1066464The elven moot video we used to have was corrupted, do you have a copy GL?
August 29, 2005 at 12:42 pm #1066465You’re right though, it’s a lot like ‘police, camera, action’ 🙁
