do you like to get in there and avit with the best of em or do you prefer to stand your ground with some freaky dancing
October 19, 2006 at 12:07 pm #1092594DANCE!
October 19, 2006 at 12:14 pm #1092590definitely “normal” dancing..
Moshing (even at raves) can actually get quite aggressive (even if unintentional people get carried away and you get knocked about), causes a safety hazard and doesn’t do the kit any good.
Its as popular in SE England as well as the East… Some old friends of mine had their entire rig accidentally pushed over by moshers, they were none too pleased and it put them out of action for a few months….
I seem to manage to fall over/collide into things enough anyway whilst raving, particularly when exploring the area whilst spangled….
October 19, 2006 at 12:38 pm #1092603:laugh_at: ‘moshing is shit the speakers will fall and kill you’
LMAO
i dont mind a bit of moshing but I know what you mean about damaging kit, and when a stack is not too stable it can be very dangerous (dem speakers heavy)
but i do love the build up to a tune when the mosh is calm and then when it breaks the mosh goes mental.:bounce_fl :bounce_g:
so with out sounding gay i like a bit of both
October 19, 2006 at 12:55 pm #1092616it depends on the tune and what the crowds like!
a good mosh is awesome but then you get idiots that take it too far!but i prefer moshing, cos im also into my heavy metal such as slayer, metallica so for the first pasrt of my teenage life i was “moshing” to them. And its nice to feel like i can still do that, even if it is at a rave 😀

October 19, 2006 at 2:22 pm #1092591At one of the large teks various fences/scaffold was set up to stop the stack getting accidentally pushed over (or people tripping across cables etc)
the media reported this as “barricades to keep the Police away” :laugh_at:
November 13, 2006 at 4:34 pm #1092612cannot beat a good mosh!
likeminded folks, classic tunes, bangin’ rig.
need i say more?
people gotta know not to take it too far an get too violent though.
something immensly spiritual about it.
even looks the bollocks!November 14, 2006 at 11:39 pm #1092597learn to dance
running the risk of sounding bitter… i go to parties to escape a crowd mentality
dancing is one of the best ways to express yourself
November 15, 2006 at 12:25 am #1092601What Glo said 🙂
I can’t dance, but I like to do my own funny dance (really it is funny) and see other people expressing themselfs in their own way too, good or bad its about being individual.
mmmm I sound very bitter.

thats a bit harsh.
i mearly like moshing because i feel a bond with the people i stomp with-having not even said a single word to them. surely thats not so bad is it.
why would i learn to dance to go to party anyway?
:you_crazy!November 15, 2006 at 10:35 am #1092611Same as Glo,My Dancin is wonky as,but who caresraaaraaa
November 15, 2006 at 11:57 am #1092596dancin everytime !
November 15, 2006 at 2:18 pm #1092592I reckon moshing is confined mostly to younger ravers within Southern and Eastern England (never encountered it anywhere else and it didn’t happen much about 4 years ago)….
I find it amusing to watch but can’t normally be arsed with taking part – other than one incident at an NYE rave where a certain Frenchman filled me with ketamine and then shoved me into the middle of the S***m stack…
I can see the attraction in it but more recently I’ve noticed there are people who get carried away and get too aggressive – heard a number of reports of girls getting groped, people sustaining fairly nasty injuries and even being pickpocketed in the mosh….
It looks rather like a modern form of morris dancing to me (but some asppects of morris dancing are actually a substitute to having fights between villages) – and unfortunately not everyone can controll their aggression properly these days…
If I really want to feel a bond with people at a rave I’d rather wait and have a chat to them later on in a more chilled out space TBH…
November 15, 2006 at 3:03 pm #1092610both!! love to dance my dance in my own little bubble

i do agree there is somewhat of an age thing going on. maybe its just a reflection on the parties we first started going to. ie the parties ive been to have all been very moshy-in fact i think i was hooked since-ironically- my first party-new year shindig three years back (mercades warehouse GL?). all you oldies i suppose are used to strictly no mosh exodus style ol’ school shindigs eh?November 16, 2006 at 3:05 pm #1092598ogga wrote:hmmm

i like the unity of everyone dancing in their own way at free parties though… it’s like sublime communication, rather than just getting anger out (which punk moshing was)
November 16, 2006 at 3:41 pm #1092593yeah I think the reason that moshing is popular in more recent times is because people are actually angrier (and understandably so, given the amount of pressures they face nowadays).
I find a lot of hardstyle/ hard tekno to be quite angry music TBH and I’ve watched moshes from the sidelines; there is a fair bit of anger and sexual tension there which actually carries through to the parties…
OK maybe a lot of people here don’t see it and I’m not saying that any of you younger lot here are genuinely aggressive when moshing, but when people are that close together it only takes a little bit of extra aggression to kick something off and people actually start getting hurt….
November 16, 2006 at 3:51 pm #1092605true a lot of moshes are hardcore but i like the ‘gental’ moshes in the morning (usualy to old skool) . just a few like minded peeps boppin about
