MC’s are gash.
everytime they come up and ask to mc, you say no, you havent got a mic, or that you don’t like mc’s but they are always ‘the best mc in town, i’m always mc’in in clubs’ then they steal the dj headphones and chat some shit, fucking everything up, sounding gaaaaaaaaaash, and then you can’t get the next mix right cause you have no headphones.
fucking pricks

April 22, 2008 at 3:26 pm #1160843a few are OK
many are ponyand the others who chat lyrics about encouraging fighting and violence and guns etc (and often carry this attitude through to events, I’ve heard of several real fights over the mic from MCs) IMO actually have blood on their hands – they are also responsible for the bad rep all dance music gets today..

April 24, 2008 at 5:27 pm #1160868Its a bit hit and miss, if it’s a radio set then its good to have one to read the shout outs etc n make it a bit more interactive for the listener n the Dj can focus on mixing, some MC’s can do a good job of hyping the crowd up too especially when the don’t just repeat the same crap over n over n know when to shut up. Unfortunately though most are idiots & ruin the set/night!

Going to a local DnB and Dubstep night 2night and already know the MC’s are gonna do my head in. Would not normally go to this prompters night for this reason but its free, 10min walk away, no work 2mo cos of bangface, be loads of old mates there and want to check the venue out as i have never been there and its under new management (see if its suitable to do a night in)

Like most have said, because of MCs ending up just as popular as DJs, but actually interacting with everyone almost, alot seem to have grown their egos to the point where they think they are who people are coming to see, and they think they are the only one entertaining everyone.

April 24, 2008 at 10:42 pm #1160850i think i would avoid any night that had MCs on the flyer. a good MC should just toast the crowd to keep them in touch with the DJ, but they all seem to get carried away
saying that I heard a 15 year old chatting over some DnB on the radio (a Katalyst show i think) and he had a real command of the language and was using lyrical backflips to express himself. i went mad
Mad P used to make me laugh. he didn’t really have any style, he was more like one of your mates saying funny stuff. i liked that

April 25, 2008 at 10:26 am #1160852I reckon I agree with most of you…
Most MCs are complete tossers, in love with the sound of their own voice etc etc.
However, that said, everybody who ever heard our MC MR WONG always remarked on his style, his lyrics, and his appropriate silences. He dig big up the crowd, and the DJ, introducing the next DJ etc…
Anyone wanna hear him, let me know and I will try and upload the set of OOOPS! in Czech tek 96…
Also, me and a few of the other guys in the crew used to do the original MC role as Master of Ceremonies (not Mic Controller) and do the intros etc.
Anyone ever hear of MC Jakes? We did invite him a couple of times to the Boxing Club in Reading, but as a general rule, Our sound system ran to the tune of…No MCs and no Rewinds.
Rewinds, now there’s a whole different subject
