texts can be notoriously unreliable at weekends, and PAYG phones get lower priority on the network

try actually calling them on voice, I know it costs more and they might be utterly spangled but you might get more timely info

yea you can still get in and the weathers fine so it will be dusty.
yea people always want info on when n where i’m putting partys on but when it comes to inviting me to things no one rings me. had one lad ring me up last night but i was dog sitting last night n didnt think that my social circle was going.
its got to the stage that if i want to go to a party i got put one on myself.
well i’m saving it all for Mozfest then giving it up in the UK coz i’ve had enough.
no rigs from up here that i know of were invited??

I know what you mean though as when I moved away from Reading, stopped posting on SJ and stopped being actively involved in free parties (i.e contributing time/resources etc) as much only a few people kept in touch with me compared to all the people I knew back then.. (but at least some did which is why I knew about this particular shindig)

this sounds like it was your recent friends not keeping in touch which is even worse..

yeah I remember one of the last warehouse parties I was involved in

stood on a wooden box on a damp concrete floor, getting the power on for the crews – got about 20 people all impatiently waiting, but this was a proper sketchy old fuse board like Dr Frankensteins lab, I had to turn off the main incomer for the building – no isolators for each set of fuses – but no fucking way was I going to work that live, if I put one hand wrong I would get sparked with 400 volts

as I was doing this I must have had about 10 phone calls asking where this warehouse was.. despite there being a working partyline.. got the power on and everyone was “happy” for a bit, wasn’t a bad rave either but as this party went on there was loads of tension betwen “rival” crews and a couple of fights over age old grudges… I didn’t want any glory or money for what I did over the years, theres nothing glorious about stealing electric just for raves (although I felt morally better when I was getting power for the homeless in winter) but just wanted people to have a actual good time rather than flexing, fronting and fighting..

That was one of the things what made me “sell out” and concentrate on career etc and move up here..

that said I’d still check out a party if its in your area, even if only for a few hours…
