Ok people, help me out here.
I want to find some proper JUNGLE. Not repeat NOT D’n’B. I’m looking for the stuff right at the back of your vinyl boxes. You know what i’m saying, not quite Old Skool, not quite Jump-up, but the rolling stuff aroung 94/95/96. I entered the dance scene just in the transition from jungle/jump up to D’n’B, so I don’t know any names, but not the usual ‘anthems’ that get banged out (eg: original nutta.) Kinda darker stuff, bass-wise, But its gotta be ROLLIN’. So any names/ tunes that anyone knows, (I’m thinking Mickey Finn/ Aphrodite, etc) And where the hell I can get hold of some!
Also, similiar request for really good DUB. But I know fuck all about that, just know what I like……
This is your mission, should you choose to accept it!
easy.

February 5, 2004 at 11:06 am #1061666Well. Djvu would probably be the expert on the subject but heres a couple to keep you going. Check out SS and Omni Trio.
Oh and Johnny Jungle.
And check out anything on dejay recordings and Basement Records (basement has a bit of old skooly stuff on but plenty of classic jungle too)
Oh and check out the earlyish moving shadow stuff from about shadow#30 onwards.
Hope that helps. Don’t know anything about dub sorry!
February 5, 2004 at 2:55 pm #1061665For dub,try Lee Scratch Perry-anything from the Black Ark period, the compilation ‘Arkology’ is a good place to start.
Also try some King Tubby,Augustus Pablo,The Mad Proffessor,African Headcharge,Audio Active…lots of good stuff on On-U SoundFebruary 5, 2004 at 7:31 pm #1061667Of course. Lee scratch perry and king tubby. Maybe I do know a bit about dub after all! 🙂

HALLO BINGE
I HOPE THAT YOU FIND ALREADY SOME VALID NAMES FROM THE JUNGLE SCENE. I’M NOT REALLY CRAZY FOR IT BUT I CAN SUGGEST YOU MAYBE “DJ VIPER” ONE OF THE MOUST POPOULAR JUNGLE DJ’S.
LET ME KNOW IF YOU ENJOY HIS MUSIK.BYE KA-B
March 16, 2004 at 8:16 am #1061664I don’t know if anyone still rates it but back in the day I use to love ed rush and optical’s album Torque…
April 2, 2004 at 11:44 pm #1061668for a really wide range of excellent dub, check out dub-hunters “bloodand fire samplers”; a Manchester outfit that search for 7″ from good dub artists that had only a minimal original pressing/release, then they compile ad re-release. look for “Dub Wise and other wise” albums.
Also, lots of very good current artists on Dub Head Recordings…look out for Love Grocer (sexy sprouts? lettuce hope not)
hope that rocks your boat
April 2, 2004 at 11:52 pm #1061669oh, and btw, if you want some really rolling old jungle, this might be older than you asked about, but in my humble opinion you can’t go wrong with…drumroll please (oh, no need, kicking beat already)
