Maaate! That sounds horrible. I have it easy in comparison. I suppose it’s all relative. At least I have the power to move. Some people are stuck in parts of the world where they really have a much worse time than I do but they have to grin a and bear it.
Thanks for well wishes; TG, Tarifa and everyone else.
Tarifa: Yeah we had been thinking of moving for a while actually but maybe we would have never had the actual drive to do it. This has forced our hand, so maybe it’s the universe giving me a kick up the arse.

September 15, 2007 at 5:53 pm #1120169Hi I know the problem. I just gave up my council house even though it was the first step to me getting on the property ladder due to kids not giving a shit about the area they live in.
When the local paper came round to take photos they couldn’t believe the state of the place
I did do a bit of research though and found out that (in Scotland and probably england but don’t know English law). the landlord to a property it legally responsible for the conduct of his or her tenants, therefore if his tenants are being antisocial then he is required to do something about it. Unfortunately it means being at risk of being marked as a gras for complaining.

September 15, 2007 at 6:13 pm #1120180i know exactly what you mean mate, sorry to hear that.
5-6 years ago a family like that moved in next to us, scary nutters tbh. they’ve alrady been invovled in some very sketchy stuff (two of them are in prison for assault on a woman, because her husband reported their car stolen when he recognised it!) and generally are abusive and dicks. one of the cunts, about 35, was so pathetic he threatened to kick in my little brother (12 at the time) because there were “football marks on his car” and he presumed he’d done it.
needless to say me dad weren’t happy at that at all, and had summat to say on the matter. suprisingly, talkin bout it to them seemed to calm shit down a little. they are still dicks tho, that “overtakin” thread was relatin to them goin round (whole famlily like) an threatenin to kick a middle-aged couple in for overtakin them!
dont let that alone drive u out tho mate, talkin to ’em is a scary prospect but probly won’t do any harm.

September 15, 2007 at 6:58 pm #1120159nasty situation to be in
if you are going to seel up and move, don’t make any formal complaint about them or you legally have to declare any problems you’ve had with neighbours to any potential buyer

Yeah TankGirl had mentioned something about that. I didn’t realise this, so it’s something worth knowing/keeping in mind, cheers.

September 17, 2007 at 12:32 pm #1120181Can you annonymously contact the various utilities providers and have them disconnected?
Call up who ever the utility provider is, ie BT, Southern Electric, British Gas or whatever, explain that you have just bought the property and plan to refurbish it. Ask for everything to be cut off temporarily while you carry out buiding works.
Or something along those lines. It might not get them to move out but at least it will irritate them a bit without it coming back to you.

A family has just moved in to the next house down though and they are proper dodgy scum. Hanging around outside the front of the house hurling abuse. Constantly having fights between themselves and others. Heard them talking of robbing houses, cutting people up and smashing faces in with hammers. A few of them have just got out of the nick too.
I’m being kept up most nights by wheelspinning cars and beeping horns and kids running across the tops of parked cars.
I may sound a bit like a moaning old git but it’s pretty much fucked up my living situation. Don’t feel comfortable leaving the house empty and I’m not getting proper sleep.
No point having a word with them or getting the police involved as it’ll just make things worse. We’ve wanted to move for a while but it’s time to actually do it now. I can’t help feeling like we are giving in to scum and letting them force us out of our home though, but I just don’t feel comfortable here anymore. I can’t see any other way around it really.
Anyway. I don’t expect any solutions to my problem. Just felt like airing my issues for a change and to see if anybody else is dealing with the same thing.
…go to the council you dont have to put up with it,they can have it stopped or move them if they persist…… and poor kids living in a situation like that what chance do they have…

One of the daughters has a young baby. Heard her saying that she can’t wait until he grows up because she’s going to get him in to drugs and teach him to get wrecked. Wicked. :hopeless:
I admire some parents who teach their kids about drugs and have an open attitude. I’ve seen it work twice before and the kids end up never really getting in to drugs at all; but looking forward to getting your kid wrecked is definitely not the way to go.
By the way, I don’t hear all this because I’m ear wigging out the window, I hear it because it’s right outside my bedroom window at night so unfortunately I have to listen to it.
Stuff getting the council involved. I wanted to move anyway so I may aswell just use this as an excuse. Like people have already said, it could effect my ability to sell the house if I make a complaint.

December 23, 2007 at 12:47 pm #1120156Been finding needles in my back garden just lately.
When I went to get the cat in last night I heard some rustling in the small back alley behind my house and when I went to look some bloke scarpered. I shouted after him but didn’t have any shoes on to chase him. Went and got my shoes on then when I came back out I heard the door of the dodgy wankers house close.

December 23, 2007 at 1:00 pm #1120171Think needles can be picked up with a magnet – an old speaker coil is what I use for metal bits like that

Get yourself one of those huge big lamps that turn on when they detect movement. We used to have people cutting through our garden all the time and they don’t like it when they are lit up by a million candle spotlight.
It also means you can see them and they can’t see you.
Also I would phone environmental helath to get them to clean up. Its far more obvious than you cleaning them up yourself and maybe this wil make them think of somewhere else to go, as if it is someone from that house then they are obviously trying to hide it from the rest of their family.
