turned out to be a bit of a marathon session, 2 hours 40 minutes in the end as ended up standing in for UTI…
Shame 8006 (PVR live) wasn’t working but I managed to restart the server and fix it today (had a hectic time last week so was a bit knackered on Friday evening anyway or I would have thought to do that)
A bit less talking this time as that was another last minute show so hadn’t thought up that much useful to say – and I play a fair few vocal tracks and hate “crashing the vocals” (i.e talking over them) and don’t have a intern who can go through my playlist beforehand and tag when all the vocals come in (which is how they do it on bigger stations). I tend not to announce tracks as I can get the tracklist after the show anyway which is surely more useful to anyone who actually wants to buy them as well..
They talk loads more on ICR-FM but one reason for this is any radio station on the normal airwaves has to identify itself around every 15 mins (its some international rule…)
Might have to upload this one to mixcloud as it will be over my soundcloud allocation…

nah I have to manually reduce the music level like the old skool pirate days (which I forgot to do a couple of times last night)
I only got a 2 channel compressor/gate and decided against using a 4 channel one (which could have done that) as I don’t like compressing live programme output as its easy the to get in the habit of letting the levels redline (I do process the repeats)
the mic does go through a compressor (and some FX) but this is also to try and reduce the background noise of 3 PCs (my main one having 3 fans)

must confess I cannot yet actually read or send morse all that well.
I keep trying to learn a bit but get sidetracked by other stuff. its official use for global comms was mostly ceased in 1999 and it was removed from all ham radio licensing requirements around then, though it is still used a fair bit on HF and some countries military still use it, as it will still cut through the interference..

Madpsy complimented me for not talking over every track, this iis deliberate as with a hybrid digital radio format with strong intereaction there is no need to announce every track as I will post them here ,
and as the last few shows have been last minute ones I’ve not spent ages preparing playlists and putting a comment tag on vocal tracks such as “vocals at 02:25” so I don’t crash the vocals (too many presenter readlly do this)
some people can listen live, some cannot but everyone still comments one the show 🙂
I think these shows are semi liniear -some enjoy the liive broadcast so my speech content shout be short, consise and engage with audience…
