Goldfish survives being flushed down loo

A goldfish has survived getting flushed down a toilet after it was rescued from a nearby sewage plant.

The unloved pet was found at a treatment plant near East Kilbride in Scotland.

An employee at the works, Jake Huey, spied the goldfish flailing on a mesh filtering screen. He promptly scooped up the creature and hastened to the main treatment building, where he put it in water in an emergency tank.

The Daily Telegraph reported Huey as saying: ”Obviously someone thought their pet was on its last legs and flushed it down the toilet, which obviously we wouldn’t advise.

“The fish has rallied as it made its way through the waste water network underneath the streets of East Kilbride and popped up in our screens totally revived.

“This is one lucky little fish. We just need to find a good home for him now.”

The plucky poisson has been given the nickname Pooh, and is being looked after at the Philipshill Waste Water Treatment Works until it can be found a new owner.

this is worrying – you can flush a goldfish down the loo in Scotland and it survives all the way to the sewage works, but they can’t survive in Anglian water, and we drink that water…:yakk:

I’m on a scottish rave forum and I’ve seen Scots complain that they “cannae drink the English water, it makes them ill” – apparently we put fluoride and other chemicals into it in some regions and the Scots don’t

made me feel really bad when I was in England last year too, had no problems in Scotland..

English water smell strange too, compared to what I’m used to anyway :yakk:

The water where I live is crap. When I travel somewhere I notice the difference in a big way, like when you have a shower, it feels so much nicer on your skin. And the water tastes crap,drinking bottled water is bad for the environment, so drink it. I like being an anti environmentalist though, so if it is a pointless thing to do and bad for the environment I will do it.

waters really crap here sometimes it comes out cloudy .. allways has particles in it if you look close enough .. i try and drink botteld water as much as i can

my water is OK…. but it does have white stuff in it sometimes… and flouride which is bad for you im pretty sure. I would drink bottled water but fuck that i would prefer to drink good old healthy coca cola and diet coke with all the added aspartame and shiz… much healthier….. bet its made from the same tap water i fookin drink as well anyway!

Mines great aswell, if I run out of bottled water and I’m too lazy to get a new bottle, I just drink from the tap, it tastes a bit weird at first but it’s proven to be very good water.
