Do you find calling weed ‘pot’ a really lame word? I don’t know why but when I wanna take the piss i’ll say ‘pot’ normally in an American accent to take the piss.
Is it just me to think pot is a lame word to use?
July 23, 2012 at 2:25 pm #1256324It’s proper lame, I can just imagine some half wit clichè stoner (most likely from the US) goin on about how much he/she looves ‘pot’ and how they’re gonna change the world by making it legal and free…..blah blah.
Point is, ‘pot’ is a fuckin lame word, and if you call ganja/green/bud the aforementioned word….then your lame.
July 23, 2012 at 4:36 pm #1256321When I was growing up aged 14 or so (21+ yrs ago) we all called it pot, there was green around, but not so much skunk,
therefore its not americanised for me,

July 23, 2012 at 9:37 pm #1256323Everyone one round my way, when younger called hash (soap bar) pot, and weed weed. Weird.
July 25, 2012 at 8:10 am #1256326My dad calls it dope, which I suppose is a generational thing but still makes me cringe because it reminds me of someone from Road Wars confiscating a bag of oregano. Pot is definitely a terrible word for it. And what the fuck is with people calling it gear? Whenever I hear that it makes me think they’re talking about smack.

I Agree! ‘Gear’ always makes me think of smack!

July 29, 2012 at 10:39 am #1256330It is remarkable that one time it was called “hemp” and then had to be banned under the Spanish word “Marijuana”.
Then lots had to be grown quickly for WW2, and suddenly growing hemp wasn’t illegal for some people who were “patriotic”.
Just word games, you see. Orwell had it right, doubletalk, doublethink, complete load of old cobblers when it comes to authority giving “facts”.
July 31, 2012 at 6:49 pm #1256331My younger brother always uses the adjective to smoking weed as ‘doing weed’. And in past tense ‘done weed’.
So he’ll say ‘i done weed the other day’ or ‘me and my mates are doing weed tonight’.
He also says ‘hench’ meaning good and ‘hemp’ meaning bad.July 31, 2012 at 6:52 pm #1256332
July 31, 2012 at 7:22 pm #1256328I usually call it grass, but I grew up smoking with some old-timers, and yes I’m stateside. Never really liked “pot” but I’m not against it. Marijuana’s a worse word, a propaganda word to make “upstanding, patriotic Americans” think weed is some threat from down south, lumped in as a cartel drug, a foreign enemy. Never do I call it marijuana.
