this has to be bollocks surely?
Clarkson faces sack call in fresh BBC scandal – TV & Radio – EntertainmentFair play what jonathan ross and brand did was out of order and i think they deserved to get sacked, but clarkson just making a joke, regardles what you actually think of him, there no way he should be sacked for that surely.:hopeless:
November 7, 2008 at 10:19 am #1186907just foreign news sources talking up a minor issue in this country. All the MP did was complain to Ofcom like any citizen is entitled to. Ofcom get thousands of similar complaints like this and they decide along with the BBC what may happen – most Clarkson would get is a minor bollocking. If he’d come to Suffolk or North Essex to film the stunt it may have been viewed as a more serious manner. The timing of the episode was a bit dodgy as its bang on the second anniversary of the incident though.
Also Brand and Ross haven’t been sacked as such but just been given a bollocking, a pay cut and moved away from one show. They remain potential BBC staff.
However news sources in that part of the world do make a big thing out of any minor problem in the UK, probably a payback from Empire days. Its not uncommon for my mum to phone me and my sister every so often because she’s got the impression from the news that England is flooded / being bombed / there are riots in the streets / illnesses and plagues etc…
November 7, 2008 at 10:31 am #1186913tbh i didnt think ross and brand were going to get permanantly sacked. As out of order as that prank was its not like they’ve been caught by a newspaper shagging hookers and doing coke.
November 7, 2008 at 10:39 am #1186908Auntie is the same as the Civil Service – compared to many other organisations they put a lot of public money and effort into training people so as long as they deliver and don’t actually do anything particularly stupid they can be surprisingly lenient.
had a bit of a scare in ’04 after getting arrested for a minor offence (charges were dropped in the end), but the impression I was given by my bosses was that provided I was 100% honest about what had happened (and whilst I had broken the law it was to help some homeless people) they wouldn’t treat it as that serious a matter at my rank – it might have impacted on promotion prospects but I would have been at least kept on until the end of my contract..

Ross has been suspended for 3months without pay..
But anyway, It is pretty much bollox that he should get sacked for that – I don’t think he will… but if he does, it’s pretty fucking stupid…
November 7, 2008 at 1:38 pm #1186914it was well out of order what they did as if you ring someones grandad up and go on about how you shagged they’re grandaughter. brand is a dick.
November 7, 2008 at 1:40 pm #1186926Did he actually sleep with her though??
November 7, 2008 at 1:53 pm #1186915she’s female and has a pulse…
…i reckon he probably did.
November 7, 2008 at 2:50 pm #1186920obviously he shouldn’t get sacked for that, but clarkson is a cunt so it wouldn’t be too bad news
November 7, 2008 at 2:57 pm #1186916he is a bit of a dick, but he’s quite funny sometimes i reckon.
November 7, 2008 at 4:36 pm #1186923My fucking god. People in this country are so fucking stupid, Clarksons comments were spot on, most lorry drivers have and will kill at least one whore in their lorry driving days, it’s a fact of live.

November 7, 2008 at 6:56 pm #1186909its also worth noting that Peter Sutcliffe the Yorkshire Ripper who killed 13 prostitutes in the late 70s / early 80s was also a lorry driver. I remember watching this on the TV news when I was about 7 or 8.
Clarkson could easily claim he was also referring to this previous incident (and Chris Mole is also old enough to remember both these incidents).
November 7, 2008 at 7:09 pm #1186917this is ridiculous!
Jeremy C makes me laugh even though – or more probably because he’s an arrogant twat 😉and even with brand and ross – I mean 2 people complained when the show was aired and other (sad) fuckers jumped on the band wagon as it was publicised – and it only really got going around 7(ish) days afterwards….
why cant these wankers put their mouths or phone calls to better use and complain about real issues that affect society as a whole….
November 7, 2008 at 7:15 pm #1186910these are people what have hated the existence of the BBC for 30+ years. They have already neutered anything controversial on ITV due to close monitoring of programmes and product boycotts, and now there is a credit crunch are looking for opportunities to roll back the permissiveness of the BBC.
its part of a wider lobby to bring Britain back to the 1950s, or at least the mid 1970s..

Even Gordon Brown got involved, had the cheek to ask them to publicly apologise, but he has never apologised for his part in starting wars etc… Twisted world:you_crazy

I mean where are peoples priorties
the world is going to shit
maybe brand and ross should talk to our amy and repent rather than just apoligise…..
November 7, 2008 at 7:51 pm #1186911the so called “liberal media freedom” in this country is often simply giving people enough rope to hang themselves by, and eventually shows people where the power really lies.
that said, Gordon Brown doesn’t have to apologise for starting wars when for years he was constantly being lobbied by a large proportion of the British public what wanted cheaper fuel and are only pissed off that the war hasn’t exactly been a walkover..
November 7, 2008 at 8:02 pm #1186924Jezzer is my hero, we both seem to open our mouths and say the right things just at the right times.
November 8, 2008 at 11:49 am #1186919I dont really like clarkson. I know it might sound a bit wispy to go on about not deliberatley offending people, but in the case of the bbc i think its fair to say that they ought to be a bit more careful. its funded by us all and so should be acting in all of our interests. Clarksons got some pretty bigoted ideas imo.
For the wider media though im all for freedom of speech as long as its not directtly inciting anything which is realistically likely to create an immediate physical threat to anyone.
November 9, 2008 at 3:56 pm #1186922The whole point of Top Gear is that it is uselessly extravagant deliberately piss-taking and politically incorrect nonsense.
Love it or loath it, it is what it is.
to be smacked down for it now seems bandwaggonism gone ballistic
November 9, 2008 at 7:30 pm #1186927what is this obssesion with the twat anyway? he’s a fat dickhead with an annoying voice. just cause he knows stuff about cars does not make him a genuis. if people saw him when he was a nobody presenting brainteaser on five part time they wouldent think he was such a hero. actually i dont mind him but i just think he’s over rated:yawn:. sorry
