Is it right ridicule those with different views than yourself

I was just wondering if people thought it was right to ridicule those with different views than themselves ?

Personally I find these people who do quite stubborn, narrow minded and just plain sad really.

Discuss your point of view, explain why you feel that way by all means but if you need to resort to ridicule it simply shows you up as someone ill equipped to express themselves in more mature manner.

its extreemly rong i beleive to ridicule some 1 about there beleifs as long as there not causeing harm to them self or others then its up to them at the end of the day….Thats my view any how i think that most people will agree with me to unless there sik in the hed like a nazi or sumin….

depends really if they are ignorant bigots then they deserve no respect or the time of day. suppose its all subjective tho. some people are fucking idiots on the other hand, probably shouldnt even waste your breath to ridicule them. just let them carry on and walk away its thier loss at the end of the day.

Yeah its all about putting your point of view forward clearly and backing it up with a good argument and facts, if they cant do the same in response then you dont need to ridicule them cos they’ve lost the argument.

I try not to ridicule anyone but some peoples logic i cannot work out. But then again that is just my opinion which i guess they might find a bit wierd lol

yeah but if the otehr person is ok with it banter can be fun .. and the essance of banter is ripping the other person for a laugh .. i guess if you cant take it dont give it comes in here .. but also dont “give it” to people that can’t take it .. 😉

Ridicule is already a loaded word. It’s like asking “is it ok to murder?”

But I’m quite happy to ridicule people who belief in a flat earth. Theres a threshold of stupidity you are allowed to have… once you’ve past that point you’ve got no excuses 😉

I ridicule everything….I find its the best weapon against seriously misguided people i.e racists, vegans and fascists. Sensible debate just allows them to argue an reafirm their points and often get angry or violent if they think you have outmanoeuvred them. Whereas just laughing at them makes them feel small and stupid.

good point. ive tried arguing with the god squad when they came round to my house before, big mistake cause theyve have got an answer for every argument under the sun! my mate had to come and rescue me in the end by saying my tea was ready. I wouldnt lump vegans in with the racist and facist tho! although i definatly see where you’re coming from! :laugh_at:
