I wrote an article yesterday which will give you some ideas on how to draw a good crowd of listeners to your stream. I wont quote the article so you will have to nip over to level-1.org.uk to read it but i want to keep updating it as we get more ideas :

March 11, 2006 at 2:54 pm #1068928I saw that, good idea. One suggestion, it’s worth reminding people to find the right section of a forum to post stream ads in and respecting their posting rules of course…
March 11, 2006 at 3:18 pm #1068935Good point 😉 Ill add that now.

Site. Do you intentionally duplicate my radio posts on SJ every week or do you not spot mine? :lol_teeth
Thank you though.
Sdz: Top idea with the tips.
I know this might sound obvious/silly but I always find texting a few mates who you know own computers helps too. They are usually up for listening as long as they are given a little reminder. I know it’s not a great way of getting ‘new’ listeners but they can sometimes help plug the show on boards that you may not go on or help you bump up the posts you put up on other sites.

That has happened a few times, but it’s not been intentional and I’ll leave it to you in future…

I appreciate all the help. Keep doing it!

September 30, 2006 at 11:04 am #1068938i have updated the link for v4 :weee:
this may be a bit of a no brainer but i have found that posting 2-4 days before the show here on partyvibe is good for finding more listeners
oh – and persevere with the adding of the metatags in oddcast [edit metadata box] as they appear in our front page radio box [at the bottom of the page guys:wink:] and also on the stream description on the yellow pages
[they dont always update first time or even 4th time but eventually they do come up:groucho:]may i recommend, for those who have not read them yet, checking out the seriously useful articles at level-1?

for all of us streamers who havent mastered the shoutcast tags yet the procedure is as follows:
connect the stream and wait till you see the stream in red on the Level1 frontpage
bring up the oddcast window
at the top of the window [but actually inside it ] there is a tab marked Edit; click on this tab
there are two boxes at the top; enter the following information:
top box – Partyvibe Radio
second box – a [brief] stream description for your showclick the Ok button at the bottom of the window
go to the PV forum frontpage and/or reload it to make sure the shoutcast information has been updated to the PV frontpage radio box
[if it has not go back to the data, add a random space atthe end [thats what i do anyway] and hit Ok again; repoeat until a newly loaded PVfrontpage is showing your information:groucho::groucho: at the bottom in the radio info box]
why bother?
this is the info that shows on the pv frontpage about whats on the radio right now and, more importantly, what gets sent to shoutcast listing pages where you may pick up more listeners for the stream :bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl:bounce_fl [blank tags means your stream has no info when listed on these pages and people are less likely to click on it and give it a try ]
the what listings ?
http://www.internet-radio.org.uk/
dont be fazed if the number of listeners on L1 and on the listings are different – this is to do with how people connected to the stream to listen to it – if they go straight to L1 it may not register that they are listening but it is usually a good way to pick up some extra listenersraaaraaaraaaraaa
