my mum is going to hospital for an operation tomorrow… im quite anxious… i guess a public forum might not be the best place, but in a way it is… i post on here all the time… some of u know me… some of u maybe even consider me a friend… time to soak up some positive energy… ok, im hunting for sympathy but any kind words would be gratefully received… :/ … thanks friends x

just remind yourself this is an unusual experience for you, your mum and your family,but the staff do this everyday and are experienced and qualified, so take comfort in this,
I hope she has a speedy recovery.

TBH not being an actual healthcare professional but working in the industry I can only echo this..

Look on it this way – if yer Mum’s tough enough to bring you into the world and help get you this far, the operation should not be too bad. 😛

Hope all goes fine… just stay positive and put on a brave face for her… that will put her more at ease which is only a good thing. Talk about something happy just before she goes off to be put under anaesthetic… tell her to think about it over and over as that will generally what she will dream about during the Op. Go for a walk and get some fresh air during the actual op… avoid sitting in the waiting room as it’s a tough place.

September 9, 2012 at 1:27 pm #1257318sorry, i was too embarrassed to come and say :/ … it all went as well as it could and she is now recovering and doing ok… it was all quite emotional in these couple of days… she has to have another one but its not for a couple of months and then it’l be the same thing again… maybe i’ll not drink lots and just chill next time :/ … thanks for asking x

There’s nothing to be embarrassed about mate, it’s a scary thing when the people who raised you have health issues. After what you’ve gone through I would find it worrying if you weren’t concerned! I’m really glad she’s ok, and the only thing I can offer as advise is to not fear for the future, but embrace it. She’s having operations to help her get well, not the other way round. It’s a shame she’s had to have them in the first place, but it’s good that she is.
