what are you doing about it?
- going legal events?
- spending more time mixing / making music in smaller groups?
- just staying at home?
- trying to look for ways of doing licensed underground events?
- going to “townie” places instead and getting pissed but not really enjoying it?
- giving up on parties and doing something else with life?
or something else?
I’ve deliberately not made this a poll as I’m hoping people will have a proper in depth discussion – however much we hate it the clampdowns won’t go away, so anyone here what still wants to socialise like we used to is going to have to be a bit smarter…
I’ve been spending a bit more time with closer friends and having proper in depth conversations, helping people with technology and business stuff as well, but I personally feel a bit gutted as just a year ago I was part of what seemed like a big commuinity of people what has just all fragmented and scattered like mice..
if you’re eastside crew what happened to all that stuff about “community” people chatted about? how many are actually still up for it in the true sense of the word?

September 21, 2008 at 9:57 pm #1179780I’ve moved to London and soon to Reading. Going to wicked gigs/ clubs/ festivals, etc. Concentrating on work + getting rid of the debt, but also to have access to the London and Bristol music scenes, which are thriving.
In my experience, the people who did it for the love find other ways to access what they love with maybe less hassle, while the people who did it for the drugs realised they can do them at home and are now all drug addicts who never leave the house.
Such is life.

September 21, 2008 at 10:10 pm #1179798In fact does anyone know what Leeds is like for parties? As far as I can tell its much the same as sheffield but I could be wrong. What stance do the ob take?
September 22, 2008 at 7:08 am #1179796The only thing tolerated in my area are binge drinking, coked up, football supporting chavs. We used to have a massive party scene years ago, but that was killed by OB, loads of develpoment and house building and crews that fucked up.
I’l go anywhere for a free party, and do. It’s the only thing I really enjoy doing. I don’t go to licensed clubs, or festivals as I can’t stand the security and smoking ban. I’ve tried everything for a laugh even binge drinking and being a coked up asshole, but always come back. It is the best fun. Even now I always get a proper buzz when we finally find the party, meet new people, see old mates, banter with the OB…September 22, 2008 at 8:25 am #1179788I go to parties every month that are put on by the same crew.
Its only a small rig and the same small following all the time but there’re good and there aint anything else to go to with the same sort of vibe that i can find.
Saying that though went to a 2dayer this weekend and was chatting to a bloke who says he’s been to a few different things about suffolk in the last couple of months so its still going on its just finding it.
September 22, 2008 at 8:55 am #1179783I’ve only been to a few outdoors partys this year,
but I’ve been to a couple of great festivals, gig’s, and free day festivals / green fairs and one paid day event – easily found by tinternetMost of the time we are going to house partys with decks set up – a chance to meet our friends and meet new people and it’s usually alot more easy on the pocket – got back last night from one in cambridge
It’s difficult working shifts (weekends) to be as impulsive as I’d like to be,
as I often have my shifts for up to 2 monthsin advance and its difficult to swap – so this limits me, and also we havent got as much ‘disposable cash’ as we used to and
some of the ‘legal’ clubs I’d like to get to when you add up travelling / entrance / drinks etc I have to try and justify itsometimes we go to the pub, but theres only 2 near here we like that dont have a dress code and are comfortable, so usually head into london and try and combine it with seeing a band or getting some music in
September 22, 2008 at 2:32 pm #1179774AnonymousIf i couldnt do free partys id just do a summer of festibles i think (funds depending) if not then theres house partys and gigs and all sorts. However i dont think im in anyway shape or form as into the music and way of life as a lot of people on here. I just enjoy it so i go, but i know very very little about the music etc (though would like to know more but its hard as theres so very much of it (and if i hear any more anti dnb rubbish i will scream)). I come from a more of a rock/goth/cyber than dance (5 years ago dance music in my mind was just chav rubbish, silly boy i was) background.
September 22, 2008 at 5:07 pm #1179791Weekends are either partys, legal events, local pub, camping (in the summer), festivals etc… there is always something to be doing at the weekend 😉

September 22, 2008 at 6:38 pm #1179794I still get to a few partys, Its not that there isn’t any its finding people who are up for going.
Most my mates go out round Hull and trust me its shit.
so I usually go to a few local pubs or mates houses if i’m not partying.September 23, 2008 at 12:25 pm #1179799The legal psy events always have a fantastic atmosphere and we’re lucky in London that there are loads of great venues for dance parties.
Work commitments have been the biggest change of late rather than a lack of parties.

last i herd the management had totally changed, the yellow toilets were now grey and the bouncers were all changed because they were involved in the drug side of things. May be a load of old tosh though!
September 25, 2008 at 5:58 pm #1179781we did some sweet parties during the summer, gettin a good regular crowd, but now that ruff beat and another vital crew member have moved its gonna be about the legal events. altho money and licensing are gonna be a big issue.
other than that, the same old. got to a couple of festivals this summer wich was good.
though now a good group of mates have all left to go to uni meaning im now stuck with the heavier mashheads ive been trying to avoid recently. gotta make sure the coming winter dont get me back into old routines.
September 26, 2008 at 5:46 pm #1179790COme live with me up here then mate, its fucking kicking off mate!
September 27, 2008 at 8:48 am #1179787ive been managing to get to plenty of parties this summer, ive been lucky and had a really good one, although it has involved allot of driving missions as there’s not always a huge amount going on in my area party wise. Though we do have a new local rig thats done 2 parties that are close enough to cycle too! raaa Dont really go to clubs anymore, been to a few local small gigs lately which is a nice change from what I usually do.
If im not partying i end having a good rest/sleep, going for long bike rides and exploring, see me mates and family and stuff. I make sure i make good use of my weekends whatever im doing.
