That is because it is the way in which all matter behaves when it is unobserved.
Mmmm not quite. An unobserved book will always be where you left it, because the uncertainties of its constituent particles average out. Once you’re dealing with systems with 10s of atoms, quantum no longer really applies in the way we think it does.
But yes, for subatomic particles, that’s how it works! Bit crazy.

… unless some thieving bastard has found it and liked it when unobserved.
Or, a blind person could have stumbled over it and moved it away from where it was left.
Earthquakes of course can move things. As can parents, spouses, children, pets, and inquisitive police officers.
Conciousness really does affect reality.

You do realise of course that ultimately, a book is made up of subatomic particles right?
May 21, 2013 at 2:58 pm #1273334I would like to know who wrote the bible and for what purpose.
I would also like to see the original scrolls before they where manipulated and see how much of it was manipulated.May 21, 2013 at 8:40 pm #1273307A bit cliché but:
What are we?
I don’t mean what is the meaning of life, or what are humans, but what is this universe? We have a theory of what it was before the big bang and much has been explained about the universe around us, but there is still plenty of unexplained and unexplored stuff. What brought the existence of all the condensed matter pre big bang in to existence? I don’t know the right question to ask because it’s unfathomable, but I’d just like to know what this existence is. Is this it? Are we one of many alternatives? Are we a thought?
It’s my favourite headfuck.

I already have a theory on this but it would be nice to be proven right!

As a record of kings and wars, I guess. Sort of a nationalist “us Jews are GREAT” mission statement. Although it is clearly stated in there that “the book” was found lying in the Temple AFTER the return from Babylon, about 600BC. Earlier than that we don’t have.”
Then new bits got added around the time of Jesus, but most of them were taken out and burned about AD 300.
Then King James insisted on a Bible in English, and after executing a few people who hadn’t written down his dictation, we have the current version. There WAS an earlier attempt at a Bible in English, called the Lollard’s Bible, but I am unaware of any copies surviving little things like the Inquisition, Reformation, etc etc etc.

Good job somebody buried a set in Nagh Hammadi, which was dug up in the 1950s. Most of it is readable, and 95% of the original lost texts are now readable.
It’s not exactly women’s lib but for the time of the Roman Empire it was pretty radical;-

Dead Sea scrolls I’m not so familiar with, and as the Vatican stole the entire collection before publishing dribs and drabs, I doubt it’s complete.
May 22, 2013 at 12:47 pm #1273308Not for me personally but i’d love if the whole world KNEW for a fact who did 9/11. Would love to see all those fucking truthers try and save face after wasting 12 years spouting bullshit
May 22, 2013 at 1:01 pm #1273350I’d ask Michael Barrymore what really went down on that fateful night
May 22, 2013 at 2:22 pm #1273335whether animals feel as much pain as humans during childbirth.
My friends cat just walked around the hat leaving a trail of kittens behind her o.0May 22, 2013 at 8:16 pm #1273359I’m not sure if time&space exists for animals, so maybe instead of going through 12 hours of labour like a human , they maybe only have a mere 12 seconds of pain before spitting the bubbies out.

I was coming of a trip once and desperate to sleep. I was in bed with my mate and we were watching a hitchikers guide to the galaxy. There is this scene where they ask the most intelligent being of earth what the meaning of life was.
During this scene I drifted into a half sleep half drug induced imagined dream. I asked the being what is it all about?
it said ‘you asked the question…so you must know the answer.’
‘you came up with the concept of ‘meaning’, thefore we must know what it is.’Silly I know but it was pretty funny at the time.
That same night I dreamt of these ingredients of a french dessert fighting with each other and arguing in french.

My friends cat just walked around the hat leaving a trail of kittens behind her o.0They don’t, and we didn’t use to either. It’s mostly belief and expectation after being told by countless people that it is the worst pain that you can ever go through. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a bit worse for humans due to our abnormally large craniums (to host our large brains).

I can honestly that the pain in childbirth is nothing mental and completely physical.
I went into it quite positive and stupidly thought the drugs would numb me well enough to get through it..I also have quite a good pain threshold. If I was to make a scale of pain I have experienced it would be:
Tattoo on bone: 2 to start and down to a 1
Horse standing on ankle: 2
Bone broken all the way through: 3.. maybe 5 for a few seconds when in jolts.
Childbirth 10..and that was in bursts from an hour in. After 3 hours it was a 10 constant. The pain was so bad I couldn’t hear what people were saying to me…I was delirious.
Not that I want to put woman off, if anything your mental thoughts makes it easier not worse…at least you know you are working towards something.
To be honest I thought experience pain on the level in its own way was liberating.May 23, 2013 at 2:12 pm #1273309@Izbeckistan 547074 wrote:

To be honest I thought experience pain on the level in its own way was liberating.I’ve been with older women who are family friends who sat and dissed one woman for saying childbirth was the worst pain ever as they’d had kids and it wasn’t that bad. Guess it’s down to the person.
