type (soundcloud) your link (/soundcloud) but use these [ ] brackets intead of these ( ) and make sure you put a space between the link and your brackets or it will not work properly.
Other than that you can press go advanced and on the far right of the icons on the tool bar there is a soundcloud logo. click that and paste your code, but remember to put spaces between the link and the brackests still. : )
Nice tune man you chould join my group the synthesiser superfriends.
July 12, 2012 at 10:24 am #1255122Ah, nice one. 🙂
Gene Wilder of course!
July 12, 2012 at 1:08 pm #1255071Yeah it’s not bad man, you should think about processing things like your drums a bit more to make them mold together better, but for a first attempt it’s decent. 🙂
July 12, 2012 at 1:25 pm #1255123Cheers and thanks for the advice. How about the structure? Seems like theres something missing. A bridge? A decent build?

Perhaps it’s just me but all my stuff really sounds cheesy and I’m not quite sure what it is, maybe just my inexperience or sticking with my favorite synths and stuff but I’d appreciate any comment on it. Just me? I made that today. Woooo!
Oh and what do you think the above falls under genre wise?
July 14, 2012 at 5:45 pm #1254981Yeah sounds good man. It’s got a nice trancey feel to it. It doesn’t sound cheesy either, and even if it did, it doesn’t matter cos at this stage in your music production skills you only want to be making studies into music ( making small parts of tunes to gather knowledge into how different tunes are made) not making full tunes that sound exactly how you first set out to make it.
Keep it up brother!!
July 14, 2012 at 7:51 pm #1255124I like it! The levels are a little low though, I had to crank up the volume hard to hear it. At first I was gonna say for you to do some work on making the drums more intricate but then it all kicks in! 🙂
Genre wise: Trance/techno?

LOL yeah me too. But that’s easy to fix man.
Yeah man its kinda a trancey techno tune isn’t it. Almost like hardcore even.

Great sir! I will now label my stuff as ‘Trancey techno, almost like hardcore’! And yes the intro is definitely on the quiet side, totally missed that. Gotta learn how to master my stuff though I think that’s what lets it down mostly. And I gotta stop being so dam lazy xD.
+1 For the intricate drums, I find that a hard task though.Anyway thanks for the feedback! Wooo! 😀
July 14, 2012 at 9:28 pm #1254983Mate mastering isn’t really the hardest bit according to the museum of techno. it’s the mixing bit that is tough. Infact thats the thing I have extreme trouble with mixing the levels. Especialy where I use all sorts od stereo widening on my samples these days. And using headphones instead of moniters it can be very hard to get the sound right.
You sould actually try using the stereo shaper with certain samples on the FL mixer and throw the samples around a bit so when you turn it up it doesn’t sound all cramped in the centre. It’s very simple to use. Just don’t use it to make things like bass unballanced between the left and right channels man. It’s nice for it to be wide but it’s gotta be even if ya know what I mean. If you do come over before you go away I can show ya what I mean.
July 15, 2012 at 10:24 am #1254960two good tracks (is that the original oompah loompah song as a sample? must have been about 8 when that film first came out..)
better too when learning to leave more headroom on the levels, than to produce something that is clipped or has excessive compression to the point it kills the dynamic range. Especially as it will most likely be shared on places like soundcloud and indpendent radio stations where the folk listening are going to have some audio knowledge anyway.
dubstep_joe’s track reminds me of the stuff Sky Flight from Hong Kong produces, at the fast end of trance and moving into UK hardcore – though one suggestion I would make is to consider slowing it down just slightly to bring it into the same speeds as faster trance (about 140 bpm), where it would fit in well with a lot of stuff coming from Russia and Germany at the moment…
July 15, 2012 at 10:41 am #1254984Hmmm yeah as GL says maybe you could fiddle with the bpm a bit and see how it sounds when you have moved it down to 140. That way it should shake the “hardcore” sound that I mentioned and giving it more genre identidy.
July 15, 2012 at 11:17 am #1254985Here’s something I worked on last night and some of this morning.
For some reaon it skips like a scratched CD at one point. Very bizare. Soundcloud must be mesing up.
this is just a small arangement ( a quick demo ) and the real tne probably wont be structured like this at all. but again i’m using masive and novation v station. Giving some arpeggiator, and automating theamount of octaves it goes up to,

Sky Flight as in Sky Flight’s sounds on SoundCloud ? I actually wanted to make it DNBish but found it hard to integrate anything into it hence where the 170bpm comes from.

Sounds wicked man, whats the whoosh thing ‘inbetween’ the kicks? As for the skip, it might be you misplaced a pattern on fl (are you still using it?) OR you accidentally set those ‘repeats/go to(s)’ in the playlist thing.

yep thats the chap – he does a lot of remixes of Japanese tunes (I think if you can understand Chinese then Japanese is easy to pick up, a bit like how Afrikaans is a subset of Dutch))
