Whether it’s a tune that’s good enough to be released or it sounds like you’ve fallen asleep on your keyboard, this is the place to post your homemade tunes. If you’re looking for feedback to improve or just to show off what you can do, Finished masterpieces or works in progress, it’s all good. :bounce_fl

that was from about a month or so ago, not finished it yet, working on some other stuff atm trying to learn a few things.
Your techno snippets are cool man, some gems in there, just need some EQ work on to bring out the high ends more me thinks.

Yeah they need loads of eq work
BTW I fucked obout with some stereo shaping on my currant projetct but with headphones its hard to tell if it sounds right I find and I only have wanky speakers at the sec

Playing it back I can’t really hear any widening. It is ment to be on the mid range electricy massive sound I madeJune 20, 2012 at 8:40 pm #1254971@Docs 484586 wrote:

Playing it back I can’t really hear any widening. It is ment to be on the mid range electricy massive sound I madeYeah that’s really nice man. There’s a little but of mud somewhere in the low end what needs to be EQ’d out, but that’s nothing to do with the stereo wideness. I think it’s the 300Hz area tbh. Try a 3-6db reduction with a medium-ish cue (mby about 5 but that’s rough guess) in that area on your boomy sub. Should hopefully clear it up a bit. Try EQing out a slight amount of 500Hz too as that’s another problem area (alongside 300Hz). See if that makes the bass a little more punchy. Mby side chain compress your sub with your kick as the trigger, with this kinda tune it’ll work really really well.
^^ if all that works you should be able to crank your bass up a little bit more without it fucking up the mix. 😉
June 21, 2012 at 8:11 am #1254972will do, i’ll get my analyser out and fiddle with me sticks.
Also does it sound wider than when you first heard it?
Oh yeah, me need side chain lesson : P I kinda know what its about, I think you explained it briefly before. kinda like compression right?
June 21, 2012 at 10:33 am #1254973Here’s another work in progress for fairly recently

not really sure mate, can’t remember how wide it was before. You should do a direct comparison and a/b both versions to check. 😉
June 22, 2012 at 11:00 am #1254974Working on side chaning the kick and the bassline to try and get them flowing nicely. But I have never done that before so wish me luck.
Needs allot of mixing too, also think the lead synth is too loud : ([SOUNDCLOUD] http://soundcloud.com/davidjlogue/turbotwats-day-2 [/SOUNDCLOUD]
June 22, 2012 at 11:03 am #1255068dutty 😀
I’ve explained a little about the settings of side chain compression here : http://www.partyvibe.com/forums/music-production/51718-side-chaining-explained.html
June 22, 2012 at 2:42 pm #1254975Here we are, My first attempt at side chaining. Also made some progress with the lead. Not sure if the lead fits the sound of the tune though I may make an alternate version with a different lead synth
