Just looked at met office rainfall and I reckon they must be proper washed out and its fairly cold :yakk:
As if its a good idea to do a 3 day outdoor event in Autumn! (rain / mud wouldn’t be so bad if it was warm in the daytime)
I thought bumpkins were supposed to be in tune with their environment 😉

September 26, 2010 at 7:22 pm #1229362people on SJ are complaining about noise restrictions and early finish of the music, but its surely what you’d expect holding a night in a pub garden in a residential area of East Anglia? The licensing laws aren’t gonna miraculously disappear because people disagree with them..
would have been better off skipping this one and waiting a month and doing yarco again IMO…

September 26, 2010 at 7:53 pm #1229359AnonymousHi General Lighting ,
Now see this is were the MOD is missing out on making some money ….inlight of the defence review were things get cut yet expected to do the same with less ….much like any job these days !!!! . Right my idea …..the MOD has some really big Training areas which are obviously used to noise so lets do big outdoor events there , give some of the proceeds to the ‘ help the heroes ‘ charity and free admission for any forces type people . Every ones a winner . Now just to persuade the stiff government types that this would be a good idea !!! .Regards

ps you think this has any chance or am i just pissing in the wind ?September 26, 2010 at 7:57 pm #1229363one problem here…
Unexploded ordnance – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
it occasionally finds its way into the “civvy” areas of Thetford Forest as it is!
another one is the MOD have a zero tolerance on drug use in HM Forces and encouraging personnel to attend these is creating a health/security risk…
TBH Forestry could theoretically license other bits of Thetford Forest which aren’t MOD land but equally tucked away for legal events but there are wider issues of safety and public liability.
getting back to this event what happens is that crews think its too “boring / geeky ” to read up on licensing stuff – and yes it is boring but it has to be done nowadays. people were given a chance and pissed it up the wall, now they have to prove they can hold decent events via the proper channels.
September 26, 2010 at 8:32 pm #1229360AnonymousHi General Lighting ,
I know it was just a mad idea , never going to happen .regards
MungoSeptember 26, 2010 at 9:37 pm #1229364its not as mad as you think for this particular area… Forestry Commission do share the forest between civvies and the MOD. Rendlesham Forest (quite near me) for instance has a barracks and a (disused) aerodrome just nearby.
I’ve got a copy of a load of pages from this book written by the grandson of Lord Tennyson (who wrote the poems) about Suffolk. Halfway through it he mentions being in the exact bit of Thetford Forest where we used to have a lot of raves. he mentions being able to see the (then new) A137 from inside the forest, but not hear 3 large trucks going past (he could see them). This was in the late 1930s when they didn’t have any of the new silencers or quieter engines of today, so you can imagine the racket a large truck would normally make.
they do hold events in the forests, some mainstream pop concerts and in Rendlesham they do open air theatre – its just that no one from the dance music scene has got it together enough to sort out a licensed one or hold a unlicensed one without annoying the neighbours or leaving too much rubbish behind.
September 27, 2010 at 8:21 am #1229367My all-time favorite 3-dayer was autumn in peterborough 😛 Still, there is such a thing as a weather forecast >.< Was nice and sunny at that party.

You’re right, that was in the spring. April I believe, easter bank holiday. King’s Lynn, I think it is still my #1 free party of all-time.
