Hi there,
Just introducin myself (be rude not to)
Am 30, so kicking on a bit, but am into Trance, Psy Trance and US House music. Am from Dublin in Ireland but will be bouncing back and forth between the islands over the summer and am just looking to get back into the clubbing scene as it’s gone to all pox (excuse me) here in Dublin.
And the only good nights, are frequented by the kids, so I feel like a grandpappy…sniffle weep.
Where to go at 30?
Anyways, hope to get to know yiz and glad to be here.Cheers

January 21, 2013 at 7:10 pm #1265674Hi mate I just replied to your other thread about where to find trance events though I have only recently got interested in that genre myself and it has changed a lot – the “old skool” faster tracks are still made – but a lot of new tracks are pretty much tech house/progressive house crossovers with slower BPMs. Still good music though.
Times have changed and because clubland can’t blatantly get away with being drug-fuelled the BPMs have dropped a bit,a lot of modern trance is made so you can listen to it as a mix at home or on the radio or in a car as well as at an event.
January 21, 2013 at 7:15 pm #1265677A fellow oldie, I know exactly what you mean about going out an finding yourself surrounded by youglings……. sadly the only way to avoid this is $pending, I generally found the higher the ticket price the older the crowd lol
Welcome

but then you end up with events where everyone is trying to dress up like its some poncey high class ball and even the blokes spend 3 hours selecting clothes and hairstyles…

Only 3 hours……….. it takes a long time to look this good lol
I know what ya mean, but that mostly applies to clubs, organised events are quite pricey and get lots of 30-40yos trying to recapture youth or just doing what they couldnt afford to do when they were young ( and younguns today still cant afford )………… though have to admit Im a but out of date even of those….. been quite a few years since I been to one, I think Escape into the Park in Swansea was the last
January 21, 2013 at 7:46 pm #1265676There’s still loads of 30-40 something clubbers here especially for house events but its all booze rather than pills and like walking into a episode of Ashes to Ashes…
it seems that one place you can get away with being way older on the EDM scene is if you are a DJ or producer or linked to the media in any way (photographer, journalist, blogger etc). TBH in mainland Europe its not at all abnormal for people well into their 40s and even beyond to be still clubbing and many of the house and trance DJ’s are still older than many of us…
