Welcome to PartyVibe
Good taste in music raaa
April 1, 2008 at 10:18 pm #1060943Hi, this site seems awesome. I love music but have to admit to knowing nothing about it; i’ve been more of a passive participant in that I have a hysterically good time going along with friends to parties and clubs but haven’t been researching events or organizing outings and I’d like to so i’m not as reliant on other people finding stuff to do; this seems like a good place to start.
I’m 22, a philosophy student in central London (on a course which allows me to do virtually no work at all 🙂 ), wasted too much time earlier in my course by not doing enough drugs or going to enough parties and by attending class too frequently, which i’ve been semi-making-up for in my final year. I love films, especially non-pretentious-yet-arty films, leftist politics, philosophy (the serious analytic kind, not the silly fluffy eastern semi-religious kind :crazy_diz) and getting drunk on non-beer beverages, but not beer (I’m not British and i’ve never understood pub culture :p).

April 24, 2008 at 8:50 pm #1060972Hi people,
There is a bar up top that is making me feel bad about not introducing myself!
I’m Charlie from Cornwall. I’m in Cardiff at the moment, just finished a degree in Stage Management and Technical Theatre, in fact as I write this I am sitting back in a state of post-dissertation-handing-in-elation if such a thing exists. I finished that bas**rd about 5 hours ago and it feels good!
I guess that it goes without saying that I love a good party and even better a good rave which we have quite a few of in Cornwall. My course has taught me to be pretty handy with big soundsystems and mixing and I specialised in Sound Design. As such I think it’s only fair to offer my services to anyone planning a party (if it is needed) both in terms of mixing or setting up.
I would also appreciate a shout on any upcoming raves because I’m not so fond of the whole town/going out thing although I’m sure that’s what this site is all about.
I guess that’s all there is to say about me at the moment so I’ll say take it easy for now.

Well ello there mate! Welcome to the site. Dont worry about censoring you post here! We are all mostly mature adults (id like to think I am) :laugh_at:
Like I just said in another thread, congrats on finishing your course.
Im not really into town either. Alot of my work mates go In, but I cant be arsed with all the people pissed up and getting all full of themselves. Sometimes It feels like Im in a different world. Personally I couldn’t care less about some of the characteristics they try and flaunt in town… A cynical view, yeah, but I dont particularly like the music either. Does that justify it? Hehe
Anyway, what sort of styles you into? And whats the free party scene like down there bud?
Welcome to PV :group_hug

April 27, 2008 at 3:08 pm #1060973Well, I’ve always been a bit of a drum and bass fiend, but recently I’m getting right into my breakbeat and electro. That’s what brought me to this site, I was searching for new mixes and such. The free party scene in Cornwall is pretty good although I think as with anywhere, it can be a real gamble getting there and it either having been cancelled or closed down by the police. Some of the best ones I’ve been to have been in old quarries because it cuts right down on the noise spillage. Usually you can get to within five miles of a party and then track it down by ear but the quarry raves are different. Effectively they are underground and the sides just swallow the excess noise. Another good one was in a post-war decontamination tent! That was sweet because it was inflatable and there were two skins to the walls with an air gap between (kind of like double glazing but for a tent!) That was the same, the noise pollution outside was minimal.
Town just winds me up! Too many rowdy people and invariably music that i don’t really like that much! Anyway I’d best not start ranting else I’ll never stop.
Thanks for the reply, seems very friendly here… and good mixes! hehe

indeed have to agree wiv tht mate does seem like an all good scene here, ive had such fat times at raves and my fav is the drum and base, at times being surrounded by monsters k ones wht a fukin site but all good, at this particular one there was a giant pool in the midde of this field like a water bowl best to describe it, of course seemed so lovely and warm to swim in at the time but then it does if you cant feel a bloody thing, on to the roof of the car to warm your self up stop hyperthermia setting in, well i moved my tent 3 times during tht rave the smoke seemed to engolf me of course all in my own head, i journeyed all around the world in tht tent at one point even traveled to the middle of the mosh pit then touch the sides of the tent to bring me bk, the old bill pulled out all the stops at tht rave but continued on we did, such a pretty pic a saw for those 3 days,of white boats and blue water in the far away distance and so wanted to go there, and after a quick drink of someones juice, very kind of them to share of course, we set of home. but as it happens we got lost on the way home and we ended up at the place of the 3 white boats and water and people wearin bloomers just like in the 30s and 40s and laughing and playing, such a nice place, no 1 seemed to share tht tho of course mayb they should of had some juice be4 they left, but then we would never of got home, so many storys to tell and if mayb you would like a scary story of a day most wild you’ll tell me. i will just say these days are over for me now since last year but reminising brings it all bk how truly fukin great it was.
May 1, 2008 at 1:34 pm #1059867welcome freeharmonii
think I know which one that was but unfortunately it was just before I moved here (I think I just caught the tail end of everything in East anglia)
I did understand why people but so much effort into trying to do parties whatever the consequences (especially as there is fuck all else to do round here ) when they go well they can be really good and theres also the random stuff you see on the way there and back and exploring is part of it…
most of the people are really friendly and as someone who is British Asian I feel way safer at any rave than I would in town where there is lots of anger and tension due to the economy and competition amongst races for jobs.. (the East Anglian scene is actually more genuinely multicultural than even London or SE England!)
Its a shame its got a bit extreme and ended up in this stalemate with no parties, neither side budging, I hope that crews and locals can find some common ground (perhaps literally!) once again
did you manage to get in touch with elemental about the braiding?
