Caroline Flint >:(, the Labour Party Minister in charge of the Government’s drugs policy, wants to end the sale of legal Magic Mushrooms in the UK with a proposal, on page 21, paragraph 21 of the new drugs bill, to ban Magic Mushrooms outright. If the clause in question were to become law, possession of a Magic Mushroom could entail 7 years in prison.
Our Dutch mushroom growers have been advised by legal experts that such action would be illegal under EU trade laws. They have already launched proceedings in the European Court in Strasbourg.
In the mean time, you may ask what you can do to stop New Labour banning our favourite fungi? We urge all our customers to write to Caroline Flint MP. Her address is:
Caroline Flint MP
Parliamentary Under Secretary of State
50 Queen Anne’s Gate
LONDON
SW1H 9AT
UK
Mrs Flint has stated that Magic Mushrooms are dangerous and cause mental illness, so we urge the thousands of mushroom users in the UK, who know this is not the case, to inform her of the truth. You can refer to the following two reports on the safety of Magic Mushrooms:
Risk assessment report relating to paddos (psilocin and psilocybin)
Psychological and physiological effects of psilocybin in healthy humans.Remember to be polite but firm in the points you make.
The UK Home Office estimates that 197,000 people tried Magic Mushrooms in the year 2003. We believe the figure for 2004 to be much higher. That’s an awful lot of potential voters. Therefore, we urge you, especially if you have voted Labour in the past or would otherwise do in the future, to write to your local Labour MP or Labour candidate. If you do not know who this is, simply visit http://www.labour.org.uk and type in your postcode in the box on the left hand corner and then click local contact information.
Remember, Labour do not want to ban Magic Mushrooms because they really believe they are dangerous. They are doing this purely for political reasons and in response to the hysteria and lies printed in some of the right wing press. We genuinely believe Labour’s Nanny State efforts to stop decent law-abiding UK citizens from enjoying a non-toxic plant, that has been used for thousands of years, will piss off a lot of voters. Perhaps, if they realise how unpopular their proposed Magic Mushroom ban will be, you can force them to think again!

DRUGS BILL
http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/docs4/RIA_drugs.pdf
GROSSLY MIS ESTIMATED SALES FIGURES!
“DRUGS BILL
FINAL REGULATORY IMPACT ASSESSMENT
In terms of the extent of the availability, a recent article in the Economist
(Hazy Laws on Mind-Altering Fungi, September 19 2004) quoted a figure of
300 establishments selling MMs. The total amount imported to the country
may be as great as 1,000 kg per year, with a turnover of around £1 million.
Each shop would lose income from ceasing the commercial trade in MMs. In
the vast majority of cases these shops were already trading in drugs
memorabilia and have only recently discovered how to exploit a very lucrative
sideline. It is not expected that many, if any, of the shops would be forced to
cease trading completely. It is expected that these measures will act as a very
significant deterrent to those currently selling MMs.
Psilocin and Psilobyn are class A drugs. The maximum sentence for supply of
class A is life imprisonment. Police and the CPS do not expect this proposal to
lead to a significant increase in prosecutions, due to the deterrent nature of
becoming liable to prosecution. We do not, therefore, anticipate any additional
CJS costs.
HMCE has deemed the sale of mushrooms eligible for VAT. They are unable
to state the revenue raised per annum, but we estimate the revenue to be no
greater than £175,000. In respect of enforcement, HMCE anticipate additional
costs of £500,000 to £700,000. However, this is dependent on the level of
enforcement activity, compared with their other priorities. The proposal does
not require HMCE to take any action over and above what is already taken.
HMCE are not being required to actively search for MMs; rather, this proposal
29
will form part of HMCE’s routine searches. Therefore, we believe that this
proposal is cost neutral.”AS A MUSHROOM SELLER, SPEAKING WITH PEOPLE IN THE INDUSTRY THEIR IS MORE LIKELY TO BE 1000K SOLD A FORTNIGHT WHOT IS THE VAT ON THAT THEN!

April 29, 2005 at 11:29 am #1059893Hello mate.
I’m looking forward to this summer too. Although certain pressures might make things tricky.
Not sure if i’m affected by SAD or not. But I usually feel much more positive when the sun comes out.
April 29, 2005 at 1:41 pm #1059932yes mate i feel the same, i think SAD is one of those things that you have but dont really know thats what it is, if you know what i mean. but hey the sun is shining the sky is blue, and the time for ending up in a random ditch somewhere is back.
April 29, 2005 at 2:41 pm #1059824Roly wrote:yes mate i feel the same, i think SAD is one of those things that you have but dont really know thats what it is, if you know what i mean. but hey the sun is shining the sky is blue, and the time for ending up in a random ditch somewhere is back.I think its a yin/yang thing – some people are made more positive by good weather; but others are made more violent.
If you look at what goes down on your own streets, cities, villages and estates you notice a big spike in violence around summer – usually a rise in “macho” violence, (where one or more males fight each other for territory or fun), robberies and sexual assaults.
This might be because more people are out on the streets but people drink just as much in the winter….but sometimes the winter makes some people check themselves and not kick off as much…
Even at the “bumpkin” raves some of the crews are always on the lookout as there are often flashpoints in the hot weather… particularly as the evening runs on and drugs run out – its a fallacy that trouble only happens in London
Good weather is of course excellent but it seems to bring out the worst in some people…

May 5, 2005 at 2:54 am #1059557AnonymousHey guys, I’m an avid new member of the site, having just been reminded again about how frustrating i’m finding it in the Exeter area… I used to put on smallish (1000 pple or so) parties in Cornwall and i’ve recently moved “up-country!” only to find myself overwhelmed by the apparent lack of a scene! Anyone got any suggestions or vauge info?
Also a big hello to absolutely everyone, hope all is good?
Anyway, any convo or info much appreciated,
