he is charging money for stuff you can easily find on the internet if you do a bit of googling and like any salesman the yields have been exaggerated. the sort of money outlay he mentions will get you (if you are lucky) a 150W or so panel which will charge a battery and keep small electronics going – it might power DJ processes bike sound system or some other relatively low powered equipment and I wouldn’t dismiss the idea out of hand but it won’t power the whole house.
this is a critical review from someone what bought the plans taken from the forums of a respected peak oil/economic crash site. even the tip on re-using damaged solar panels is mentioned for free on a variety of sites, with the caveat about water ingress (remember we are in rainy England…).
I lent mudstomper a book about “the autonomous house” which has loads of plans for wind generators in there and its dated 1972… got that for £3 from a Reading charity shop…
Quote:Pandabonium,Your call on the referenced site is spot on. I decided to purchase the booklet to see what value was out there for the advertised price of $47.00. You get to download the authors data which is informative and generally vague enough to avoid any lawsuits but not worth the efforts you would have to invest to find out that it would not do what you expect.
As an example, the way you build a PV system for $200 is to locate damaged panels on e-bay and assemble them ona piece of plywood.
For those interested in valuable info you should follow the suggestions found in the rest of Pandaboniums’ post as well as many others on this site. As was noted above, if it seems to good to be true …….go with your instincts as CM suggests.

Chapter 20: What Should I Do? – homemadeenergy.org ad legit? | Forums at Chris Martenson

here’s more about the scam and how its perpetrated – the original blag with a slightly different name (earth4energy) came from Australia so at least there is a 240V version, although the Aussies again have slightly different electric kit to us)
– plus a link to more realistic info and even the actual book for free…
If you are genuinely interested in all this and can wait a few months I want to investigate solar panels for powering some telecoms kit anyway and am willing to share any findings of mine on this website and tribal living for free…
earth4energyscam scam – Open Solar
Earth4Energy is fraudulent. Earth4Energy is a SCAM. Earth4Energy is a ripoff.
