Hello eveyone.
First, let me just say what and excellent resource this site is, i remember coming across it a few years back after going to my first party and getting introduced to mdma, although for some reason i didnt join.
I also remember all those years ago, coming across guilfin.net which i thought was great, but it now appears to be defunct.
Came across it again whilst looking for some info about a dance festival in eastern europe this last weekend that a mate went to, i cant remember the name or even which coun try its in and he’s not back yet so i cant ask him, oh well.My name is Rob, i’m at a university in the southwest studying engineering.
Music wise i’m fairly open minded, i originally got started on classic rock/metal such as Led Zepplin and Black Sabbath and my taste has gradually evolved to encompass dance music, it depends on the mood.
The only common thread being that none of the music i like is cheesey/commercial crap.
My first introduction to the scene was at a psytrance party, so that retains a special place within me, but these days i usually listen/dance to breaks, d&b, dub, varied electronica etc, basically anything good (i’m sure you know the score).Drugs? Yes please.
Only the psychedelics interest me.Hopefully this introduction has helped convince you all (not) that i’m not a grass/narc/snitch/pc plod etc.
Rob

hi there! welcome to partyvibe!
the festival in the Czech republic is happening (I think) this weekend so that may be where your friend has gone..
what sort of engineering are you studying at uni?

Yes i read about the Czech festival, it could be but i thought he said it was this weekend just gone and that he had to pay for a ticket (quite cheap though) so it wouldn’t be a free festival.
I’m doing electronic engineering, just finished the second year.
I’ve been into electronics ever since as a nipper i tried to remove a mains plug from a socket by sliding a knife behind it and leavering, there was a loud bang and i got thrown across the room.
I also used to like taking TV’s and radio’s to bits, much to my parents annoyance, “why do you learn to put them back together?”, well i did and now i’m learning how to design the damn things too.

i look forward to more sensible plug and button arrangements on certain equipment one day:groucho:

There are already lots of very sensible, well designed connectors and switches – but some manufacturers (particularly the Japanese) declare their own “standards” to lock people into buying peripherals from their sources (DC power connectors are a good example!)
also equipment is made to be disposable rather than repairable (and consumer demand seems to demand ever more miniaturised kit) so there;s a lot of custom switches etc.. often stuff is designed smaller than it should be IMO..
July 26, 2006 at 12:14 pm #1083948i am looking at more prosaic stuff than that – drain traps always on the front of a washing machine, cable sockets for pc down the sides so you can reach them if you want to without hauling the bl**dy machine out, printers with the power switches at the front to name but a few:you_crazy
I am finally managed to get a washing machine with a front drain trap and have always wondered why they are not there on all machines – who really wants to haul the machine out from the wall to clear whatever random detritus got stuck in the filter every week? or ever for that matter:you_crazy
