May 4, 2006 at 10:35 am #1072207:horay: Summer in Denmark too :horay: About time,i should think:horay:
May 4, 2006 at 10:49 am #1072193yep actually finally getting warmer round here as well (at least for remainder of the week)
here’s something for the UK crew though;
anyone worked out why in summer you often get a midweek temperature/pressure rise then a drop in temperature/pressure by the weekend? it should still be quite nice by the weekend but with a chance of rain (from BBC forecast, East of England area last viewed at 11:43 on 2006-05-04) but definite temperature drop in the night to single figures in some areas
have noticed this for the last two years now (may have been happening previously but masked by particularly good summers of 2002 and 2003) and not come up with any rational scientific explanation …:alien_abd
May 4, 2006 at 11:32 am #1072199apparently weather often goes in 7 day cycles in England, during settled seasons
like a tiny El Niño…
not very scientific that :surprised

gassed?
are you just typing with a hangover, or is it normal to see in the first few days of summer in Scotland with teenagers and polis having a big ruck in the outdoors and copious amounts of CS/pepper spray?
Mind you given thats what happened last week here in Eastern England maybe its the new Beltane ritual…. keeping up an age-old summer tradition of constant battles between young people and the authorities I guess

have there been any recent changes to parking restrictions (like lines/signs going up in the last week?) perhaps you could appeal if this is the case?

i can remember someone telling me once that the pollution of weekday traffic had something to do with the reason it rained on the weekends, cant remember if it was in this country or not, wish i could remember more of the conversation too but it sorta made sense, dunno if this helps LOL :alien_abd
May 7, 2006 at 8:58 am #1072208i too, can give it the nearly know-it-all!
i’ve definately read of evidence for weather being slightly worse, on average, at the wknds. cos i remember becoming suddenly enraged and embittered by the sheer contrary-ness of mother nature.
Ultimate proof, i feel, 4 the non-existance of god.
just searched on new scientist website. 29/1/1994. ‘if it’s warm it must be a work day’. emissions from factories and vehicles mean its cooler at weekends. S’only one study tho
sad, huh:bitter:
