Don’t know if anyone is interested in astronomy or seeing meteor showers and what not, but the Geminid meteor shower (an annual meteor shower) is set to peak tonight. Anyone gonna try watch it? Personally i think i might but it depends if its cloudy or not of course. Never seen one before and would love to be able to 🙂
More on it here;
BBC News – Geminid meteor shower set to peak Thursday eveningDecember 13, 2012 at 7:42 pm #1263843Awwww. Ive never seen a meteor shower.
I probably won’t get a glimps though :(. Im normally in bed earlier than usual these days for work. Getting up at 5am is killer, and im a heavy sleeper lol. Hopefully ill see some iny back garden when I pop out for a smokey smoke.
December 13, 2012 at 8:01 pm #1263847Nor have I man, theres atleast two annual ones though – the more well known one Perseid and this one. Could be others but i’m no astronomer so.. I think Chrispydellic is interested in this sort of stuff though.
Me either it’s looking really cloudy outside! keep my fingers crossed though, let me know if you do see any though 🙂
Me too.. reccently been having insomnia though it’s horrid.December 13, 2012 at 8:10 pm #1263844What time is it gonna happen? I only get “thursday evening” and not an approximate time. Don’t want to miss this as I love astronomy.
December 13, 2012 at 8:14 pm #1263846In this instance my insomnia may be of benefit. May build a few zoots and keep my eyes peeled.
December 13, 2012 at 8:20 pm #1263848From another article i read i THINK it was supposed to peak at approx 2 am – but you may have luck earlier, i think it reccomended at around midnight. I think it also said those in the north will have better luck as they’re predicted clear skies i believe but just keep your eyes peeled everyone!
Psy, do you have any ways of keeping insomnia under control without drugs? I’ve had it crazy this past week and its really not good, i’ve had a few months without it and its just flared up again :/December 13, 2012 at 8:21 pm #1263839We need someone to get on the livestream pronto and see us into the we hours. PV meteor special
December 13, 2012 at 8:23 pm #1263849Jesus loggy.. you want a livestream for every occasion dont you haha 😛

December 13, 2012 at 9:37 pm #1263851yeah man!
I just went out for a little look and the skys completely cloud covered. Such a shame
December 13, 2012 at 10:35 pm #1263845I would normally be watching this but I am in a hotel in Bolton, visibility is pretty poor and I have to get up SUPER early tomorrow and then drive four hours.
I’ve missed them all this year, the Leonids, Persieds and now the Gemenids.
Never mind, there’s always next year and I’ll have a mega telescope to play with in the meantime.
December 14, 2012 at 9:27 am #1263852What time of the year are the Leonids/Perseids showers?
Hmm i”m actually debating getting a telescope myself. Space is so interesting imo
Did anyone actually see it?
December 14, 2012 at 10:50 am #1263842I’m sure i’ll see it on youtube later
