Had this debate with my boyfriend the other night, i really don’t think that they should bring the death penaltly back, i mean in all fairness its a easy way out for your crimes, on the other hand i think british prisons should be more tough on the people in them.

i’m all for the death sentence being bought back, but what i don’t what is the system where an innocent person goes to jail, for a crime , and even sentenced to death.

what 99% said yes?! :you_crazy Sounds like a load of rubbish to me, I cant believe that out of 95,000 people only 950 don’t think we should have capital punishment especially as even in that report it showed comments from readers who were against it, yeh I can see the reasons how it could be a good idea as a stronger deterrent against the worst crimes, but I don’t think you can justify killing someone for killing someone else whatever the reason. This just shows what a load of bollocks mainstream media is and how stupid the people are who believe it, I would be willing to bet anything that its not true 99% of people want the death penalty! murder is wrong even if it is as punishment, how is it ok for anyone to take anyones life

With regards to the death penalty, did you know that here in the UK it wasn’t fully abolished until 1998. before that crimes like high treason and piracy were still capital punishment offences! :crazy:

I think the problem is people not thinking properly about all the repercussions of having the Death Penalty back.

It really annoys me when people make up their mind, without having sat on the fence to see whats on either side first.

Although If you do look at both sides and still think Its fair to bring it back then fair play. But I dont think this is the case with most voters…

If I was some sick bastard who’d just been sentenced to serve the rest of my natural in prison, I’d rather be killed by the state than spend X years in a cell. It’s the easy way out innit.

When people get wrongly convicted (and it does still happen), they can be released and compensated. You can hardly resurect somebody can you?

No matter how fucked up somebody is, they will have access to the help they need behind bars and may actually be rehabilitated.

The sun readers are a bunch of idiots, but I can’t believe that 95% of them favour reinstating capital punishment. Thier daily readership is getting on for 8 million but there’s no way 95% percent of them want to bring it back. Only a certain type of thier readership would bother to ring in to vote or whatever imo

Have you seen when they make an apology to someone, it’s always on right near the end of the paper in tiny writing! I rarely read it anymore Cos there so far up their own arse’s it infuriates me!
