Sorry I feel like ranting !!! :mad_curse :mad_curse :mad_curse :mad_curse
Why is it when you are looking for a job there is nothing out there….. I have been looking for well over 2 weeks now even over the Xmas and New Year Period when all the agencies were shut and there is nothing and I mean nothing going…..
I have applied for admin jobs anything just to get a job to bring the cash in but guess what catch 22 … over qualified!!!!
Is just not fair I am getting depressed now!!! All I can do is go out and look and register on the websites and contact the agencies!!
Sending CV’s to anyone out there and emailing and calling incase there is something!!
Done it all!!!!! I just want to get back to normal again !!!!
Sorry rant over!!!     :confused:January 7, 2007 at 10:07 pm #1097607Awww Shorty… big hugz
Shout if i can help you at all xxxxxxxxxxxxx
January 7, 2007 at 10:35 pm #1097600I know what its like as after taking a year out from 2001 to 2002 there were very few IT jobs after the dotcom crash and it was a nightmare
tried any public sector places?
Some of them often have casual or fixed term appointment positions where provided you have over the minimum qualification level they don’t mind if you are a bit overqualified..
I got a casual job in the Civil Service (department of the environment) – that was supposed to last 3 months, ended up working there for nearly 4 years – they even wanted to make me permanent but couldn’t as there were budget cuts (and lots of projects got cancelled) probably due to cost of Iraq war)
Had to be a bit careful about saying what I did “outside work” 😉 but otherwise wasn’t that bad a job…
NB : some councils drug test their staff though, even office/admin staff…

January 8, 2007 at 5:41 am #1097612Hmmmm…..its a long shot but Mori take people on almost all the time so if you can commute you can get a call centre job in edinburgh.
I suggest MORI as they pay weekly so it’d be easier on the bank balance with the whole initial funds to commute lark. They also let you choose your shifts so if you have the drive you can do a few 12 hour shifts a week. Only problem with that aside a £12 a day train ticket  , is you sometimes have to wait up to a week for a training day.
Good lucky shorty and remember go down to the CAB and see what they can do. You’ll often find out your entitled to a lot more than you think you are at the Job Centre if you get their help. I know you might not like the Job Centre idea but you’ve paid your money in so your entitled to money back out.
January 8, 2007 at 9:51 am #1097631Best of luck with it shorty, hope somthing turns up soon!

Haha come join the ranks of me an Satyr.. lol they’re doing training days 3 times a week just now mate.. but to be honest the commute wouldn’t really make it worth her while.
