at least the mains feed worked well (was really fiddly to wire the socket, its just a trailing lead connected to “blue” power in the studio (normal UK power networks). The output of the UPS will be brought into the studio as well as its known as “RED 2” and also powers some of the audio kit (to split the load between two UPS units)
and now there is 230V up there I can see what I’m doing
the LHS board will contain all the mains distribution, with the PABX and its telephone adapters and the switch on the RHS…
those existing cables are the control and mains to the downstairs boiler! the cowboys what wired this place left them like that (thats also why I didn’t take a spur from a existing socket as I’d have to turn off the whole house whilst searching for the feed)
I really ought to fix them up better with some cable mounts but not sure if I’ve got any breeze block screws….

Oops, edited. I have no idea what to use as an example for preston…all I know is they like hot pots. Psy give us a phonic, yeah?
July 29, 2013 at 9:57 am #1259494Here’s an alternative to the Bill Bailey clip for Westcountry accents (this is actually the best impression of a Plymouth accent I’ve ever heard from someone who’s not from there)…

She has a mild prestonian accent, like me. To you southerners that might sound substantially northern but is quite weak.
I’m on my phone so can’t add link but someone post a Fred dibnah link. That guy has a proper lancs accent, bordering farmer talk lol.

I did think it was slightly softer than the normal Lancs accent, but I didn’t wanna go steaming in with an over the top accent where the ‘R’ in words such as Burnley would sound like there’s 2 or 3 R’s there! Anyway, here’s a Fred Dibnah clip for all those that don’t know who he is…

Doing Lancs proud there Fred! The flat-cap is a classic sign of a lancs or Yorkshire man too.
My girlfriend spent years travelling the world so her accent evened out to a generic accent which most people label as non-specific British, every now and then though her vowels will come out real northern like Fred there. Particularly her O’s, a no can easily sound more like norr
July 29, 2013 at 11:03 am #1259430Here is a south eastern chav accent: Gimme Gimme Gimme – Crisps – YouTube
