What do you think about dubstep?
November 28, 2011 at 1:34 am #1247242i think it is not dance music and should not be played at parties because it has a stupid annoying half step beat which is crap for dancing to.
Maxopo – Dirty Fidget Breaks/Breakcore Mix – YouTube
i made this mix especially for all the dubstep bum boys and bum girls which would appeal to them but is breaks/breakcore and much better and danceable… see what you think… x
November 28, 2011 at 2:02 am #1247254Its not bad, i think i like dubstep because i can just go crazy to it.. i like “drumstep” too.. which is.. a faster dubstep.. more like drum and bass (if you didn’t get the name 😉 )
November 28, 2011 at 2:18 am #1247243i can go crazy to 1950-60’s music and have done many a times…
November 28, 2011 at 12:44 pm #1247238There should be an option of ‘yes, but not when I’m at a party/club’ as for me it’s not upbeat enough to dance to but I’ll happily listen to it at home.
Besides, isn’t dubstep a bit old hat now anyway? It’s been around for 5 or 6 years now, it’s not exactly the next big thing anymore.
November 28, 2011 at 2:56 pm #1247248Sure we’ve had a million threads like this
It’s nothing special, but for some inexplicable reason the most fun thing to dance to. Something to do with the tempo and groove, lends itself to expressive dance moves
November 28, 2011 at 10:39 pm #1247255i beg to differ. i believe that dubstep is on its way to its peak. it used to be quite underground in the naughties. its getting better and better by day. 😛 but personal opinions are allowed 😉

fidget house smashes dubstep. dub reggae smashes dubstep.
November 28, 2011 at 11:24 pm #1247234I don’t really like the wubby, screechy, distorted plastic gangster stuff but I do love the deeper grooves from people like Phaeleh and Swarms etc.

I find dubstep one of the hardiest things to dance to it way too slow.

to be fair though you aren’t the best at getting in the mood for dancing anyway 😉 but yeah honestly i’ve been to dubstep parties when i was still open minded to it and it was soooo awful…. the dance floor felt like one uncomfortable mess not knowing where to put their hands or how to move. then the odd jungle tune would be mixed in and it’d be like YEEE then dubstep would take over again and BAM… retarded dancefloor.

this is very true me no like to dance, but still
November 30, 2011 at 4:16 am #1247241I refuse to even answer this poll. :laugh_at:
December 2, 2011 at 5:22 pm #1247246proper shit IMO. too slow, meaningless, lacking in any oomf! sooner it dies out the bettar
December 4, 2011 at 4:50 pm #1247247I don’t like dubstep, but I wouldn’t say it’s meaningless. If people get enjoyment out of it, then it has a valid reason to exist. Let the dubsteppers enjoy their music and just go out to nights where music you’re into is played. 😛
December 7, 2011 at 11:35 pm #1247237Burial yes! Skrillex No!
December 15, 2011 at 3:44 am #1247253I’ve only just started getting into the whole dance/dubstep/techno/house side of music again recently (Ie as opposed to rock, indie hip hop etc) and I quite like it but only because you have an excuse to dance like a t*** when you’re high to it xD Find it good to chill out to as well but that’s because I’m weird and find it almost soothing…
I can see why the link p0ly gave before would be better to dance to as well but it depends with dubstep – sometimes they do wait waaaaaaaaaaaay too long for it to kick in and it does get pretty boring then but it depends on how you like to dance as well I think what kind of music you’d prefer.I want to try listening to dubstep on something trippy though… See how I fair with it then..
February 10, 2012 at 2:09 am #1247257Its cool when it has an industrial or metal twist on it like Broken Note. I mix Breaks and dubstep was always used for a breakdown before it got big.
Prefer Bassline.
Bassline Mix by Bassfink on SoundCloud – Create, record and share your sounds for freeFebruary 10, 2012 at 12:38 pm #1247256You’d have to define dubstep… that horrible wup wup wup wup uhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh wup wup uhuhuhuh wupwupwupwuwuwupwupwupwuwuwu is absolute shite, and I honestly can’t believe that people dance to the sound of somebody switching the speed of an LFO over a half-step beat. Obviously it would be stupid to tar every piece of “Dubstep” with the same brush, because I know for a fact that there is some pretty incredible stuff within the genre, and on top of that, on some netlabels when they merge elements of it with other styles of electronic music (I think it works especially well with an Acid line), it actually comes out really well. I suppose we’re on about 2 different things though… I’m talking about music, and you’re talking about a party sound… so I guess my answer to the poll is, no.
February 10, 2012 at 12:41 pm #1247249The producer Ott put it quite well
‘Some of it is really good, the rest sounds like robots weeping’
February 10, 2012 at 3:53 pm #1247252I’d rather listen to songs of praise
February 14, 2012 at 5:35 am #1247258I really like the apocalyptic type were it sounds like they have cut a pigs snout off and stuck it up his arse,
February 27, 2012 at 2:28 am #1247260‘Burial’ is a dubstep artist and he’s become one of my fav’s of all time! its the contrast; dark and urban, but there’s a lot a soul (not genre) i think…, its really touching. and he uses samples from trashy pop/rnb songs (apparently) although i have no idea what. anyway its just really cool to hear these type of vocals in this sinister, dark parody… brilliant! growling bass lines and two step beats . my fav album of his is untrue. i haven’t found any others in dubstep i like so far. burial is completely different to any other artist i’ve heard, dubstep or otherwise.
February 28, 2012 at 11:44 am #1247250I wouldn’t really call burial dubstep myself.. it sounds more garage than dubstep. Either way its too minimal, downtempo and fucked up to be associated with any type of dance music
