i fucking hate banks … same shit happend to me .. they tapped me for about £200 in charges over time for 2 £6 unpaid direct debits .. fucking teiving cunts the lot of them
and the anoying thing is that there’s a court case in the high court basicaly trying to work out weather the banks are over charging ppl or not … now i’m no judge ..i don’t even have a degree in law .. but surely any one in there right fucking mind can see that they are ripping people off … the thing is tho …the courts have granted a “stay” (think thats the right term) .. on the banks duties to deal with claims against them to get there monney back … so even tho the court case is fior a good cause ..it has fucked up alot of people in the mean time as they can’t make there normal claims to get there monney back … actualy the court case finished a mounth or so back iirc .. but the stay is still in place and they don’t recon your gonna be able to do any thing untill mby august …fucking wankers … not sure the result of the case tho .. if any one knows i would love to know also <3 :group_hug

i like the idea of that, but since i have no job, a £25 one off fee then paying £12.50 a month ontop can get rather pricey for someone who is living of jobseekers!!! but then again i am wanting a job soo badly, so once i’ve got one i guess it won’t be too bad.
p.s banks r fuckin cunts, if it was up to me, i’d keep my money at home safe n sound, but i know i can’t spend it on the internet then!! ggr!
March 11, 2008 at 4:26 pm #1071651unfortunately this is what the banks want to do to everyone who isn’t in regular work or has “risky” spending patterns/bad credit, i.e reintroducing (regular) bank charges.
It was only when I was in my teens/20s that they stopped charging people to have bank accounts and offered free banking, before then you needed to have a certain level of income or property to even get a bank account (thats why OAPS often insist on keeping money in the house and get robbed etc)

i have a m8 that works in a shop with a cash point … he makes me swap the notes i get out of the mashine with his crumpled ones from the till every time i draw out cash .. he tells me he put’s all the crisp flat notes under his bed to make his materace stay flat and to stop his back hurting … lol … (i have a sneakey suspition he is giving me fake notes instead … but i have checked them and there not … just can’t help thinking it :laugh_at:)
mby this is the reason that oap’s take there cash home with them :laugh_at:….altho in saying that .. there have been sooooooooo many time i have say there and thought to my self ” i fucking wish i could just get paid cash in hand … no tax no fucking banks no “middle “cunt”man” diping there fingures into my hard erned cash :yakk:March 11, 2008 at 5:04 pm #1071793banks can suck my cock.

March 11, 2008 at 7:19 pm #1071796but back to the point of this thread, do i have the right to refuse a bank charge? because after all i was misinformed about the balance of my account, so i was unaware that i couldn’t spend any money……………….but like people say, you’re cutting it thin spending the last few pound in ur account after all.

March 11, 2008 at 7:42 pm #1071652you might be able to complain about being misinformed (the timing difference on the charge) and get that single charge reversed.
Phone calls to banks are recorded and there are of course cameras and other surveillance devices, some watch from the customer side (in case of bank robbers) but there are also ones behind the counter so the staff can’t nick any of the money. This means most interactions with customers are recorded somewhere.
When you get a job it might be worth opening up another bank account, try somewhere like the co-op (you could try smile which is the same thing but you need to be a fairly high earner to get a smile account these days…)
March 11, 2008 at 8:24 pm #1071745I went into the Halifax a few years back and kicked off about one of my bank charges, a £1 direct debit bounced and they charged me about £30 because of it.
Made a big scene about it and they wiped over £120 worth of bank charges!

These are your fella’s if you think the banks wrong but they still won’t give in.
Dunno what’s happening with the case at the high court. I think the case is over but the judge is still deciding what to do.
Either way the losing party’s bound to appeal so it could drag on for many months or years even.
I’m in the process of claiming £2700 back of them but it’s been stayed.March 11, 2008 at 8:59 pm #1071797thanks for the support everyone, as you can see i’m clearly not happy about this, they are basically trying to take what little money i have.
well once i get the letter through the door about it, i’ll go down there and speak to somebody once again….though last time there attitude was ”oh not our problem, you’re3 problem, sorry we can’t do much about it, pay up”
