I think I recall a time when we were in my garage and a large bee came in. You held me in front of you like a huiman shield screaming like a girl, “help me, I can’t get out”. Whilst I was assuring you that you would be perfectly safe if you took a leisurely stroll to the door. 😉 😉
Can’t say that I’ve ever acted that way around a spider. :groucho: :groucho:

Dentists:yakk::yakk:March 16, 2007 at 7:01 pm #1101393I only have a phobia of needles/injections (I consider this a blessing more than a curse given how much of a caner I used to be) although I can just about endure them if essential..
heights don’t worry me one bit, I am always up on roofs etc (was up on the roof at work a few days ago, as I needed to find where some telecom cable was going)
I cured a phobia of spiders by watching them from slowly decreasing distances (I still don’t like them running about, but don’t mind them where I can see them), and as a city boy was initially a bit paranoid about “getting lost in the countryside” – until I started getting into map reading and cycling (actually I think it was exploring the countryside on acid that cured me of this :laugh_at::laugh_at:)
I do not like wasps but that is because I’m allergic to the stings (its a blue light journey to the local emergency dept if I get stung)
March 16, 2007 at 11:17 pm #1101408heights, think its the impulse to jump
March 17, 2007 at 11:26 am #1101398Used to be scared of children, but i’ve met some that are nice and I think I’ve gotten over that one.
Also harnesses…..I don’t trust them. I can climb four or five stories up a tree without one and feel fine but as soon as I’ve got one on it scares the crap into me.
March 17, 2007 at 11:50 am #1101409Wasps scare the shit out of me!! The only down side to summer! I just run away as fast as I can instinctivly, usually screaming-I dont have a say in the matter.
One once flew in through the sunroof whilst I was driving-I slammed on the breaks and ran out into the road-luckily there was nothing coming!!
My boyfriend went MENTAL at me, but like I explained to him-I cant help it, I dont even think about it, just do it!!
Must be smarter than the little buggers tho-I’ve never been stung yet! (touches wood):you_crazy :you_crazy
Oh and ladybirds-not quite in the same way as wasps but it freaks me out if one lands on me-dont like the idea of them peeing on me!:yakk:
March 17, 2007 at 12:16 pm #1101411I’m a victim of a very rare phobia,called by myself HELVETOPHOBIA.
Since some unpleasant meetings with swiss custom and their latex gloves, after repeated journeys and 2 monthes in hippie hell spent in Lausanne, everything as swiss accent, swiss flag or swiss everything turns my blood to liquid fire, and my only feeling becomes anger.I start to hear Death Metal inside my head while having bloody mass murdering flashes before my eyes…
The only cure I could imagine is building a huge dam between France and Switzerland:in a few centuries, there will only remain a wonderful see surrounded by snowy mountains….
March 17, 2007 at 12:28 pm #1101403spider webs eewwww. not little spinderly ones that you find in the corners of your room but the really intricate hexaganol shaped ones, the ones where you’ll be walking thru the woods and then suddenly its like 2 inches from your face..
also anything with a sort of honeycombed shape, like wasp nests, and ,not so much now, crumpets(they taste too nice )
March 17, 2007 at 2:02 pm #1101402Big Spiders…my one an only fear

So is Lausanne full of hippies? Wouldn’t have thought that TBH I had a look at the website for Lausanne and it seemed rather like a boring English town or village (not too different from round here, apart from the fact there are no mountains in East Anglia).
Rather curiously, their website is in a mixture of English and French and it appears to be completely random which language a page will be written in when you click on it…
The only thing I saw of note was that someone tried to set up a club for “mail order brides” there and got refused by the local nimbys…
March 17, 2007 at 5:09 pm #1101412So is Lausanne full of hippies? Lausanne is awfully boring, old minded, full of nazi policemen, and old rich people .Hippies over there are properly scary!!!(I had to escape from the squatt early in the morning, before the hippies woke up and hypnotize me with weed&tea,in order to make me one of them.Hippie tricks are deadly, man!)
*As I’m a vicitm of helvetophobia, every thing I could say about it would be totally subjective and unfounded.*
