there is forum precedent for having a “post count” next to your name, which in a way is a bit duff cos a lot of people just post nonsense of smileys to bump their score (sad but true) but it is quite a good indicator of how involved in the particular forum you are.
we now have added a “chat count” (i beleive) to that number, saying how many lines of chat you have written. see next to my name there is 1,810 posts and 88 lines of chat in the chat room.
personally im rarely in chat but some people that are have expressed worry at the info shown…
do we want this?
December 28, 2006 at 1:59 pm #1096807opps, I hadnt even noticed the addition!
I’m rarley in the chat room myself, but like to pop in and ‘chat’ on the forum.
personally I have no particular concerns eitherway – but could understand if people dont want it shown
December 29, 2006 at 5:56 am #1096808It’s ok with me. Keep it as it is. That’s cool 🙂

December 29, 2006 at 1:16 pm #1096811I dont really have an opinion on this one. Doesnt really bother me either way
December 29, 2006 at 2:51 pm #1096804maybe an ‘I dont care’ option for the poll?
December 29, 2006 at 3:00 pm #1096812Would probably be a good idea, i’m guessing im not the only one that doesnt have an opinion on this one
December 29, 2006 at 3:06 pm #1096805There we go :groucho:
December 29, 2006 at 6:14 pm #1096803I don’t see a problem with both figures being shown, although TBH I don’t take much notice of either..
for those who are worried about privacy..
1] the second number only links you straight into the chatroom. it doesn’t pull up your last chat posts nor allow other users to do this.
2] there is no such thing as privacy on the interweb unless you encrypt stuff and certainly not on public forums and chatrooms. Anyone can lurk in the chatroom and read – and once you have hit “send” what you have put online potentially becomes public knowledge to the whole world. If you are not happy with this being the case then its best not putting this information on any sort of networked computer…
December 29, 2006 at 8:38 pm #1096806cant beleive its been briught up as an issue but hey i cant write so dont listen to me
edit: just as an after thought people can just go in the chatroom and write crap anyway so its pretty much pointless 🙂 -
