Got the FTTC connected today without too many problems

although it took the young lad working for a subcontractor of BT a while to find the other end of my telephone cable and the correct cabinet to link it to VDSL as Openreach’s own records were not correct, in the end he said he had to ask another Openreach chap working nearby in a van!

this is what is behind the NTE (dropwire to street)

BT standard tone generator attached (the other end can be traced using a tone amplifier).

new NTE and modem (the modem is powered via a small UPS, I hope that there are accus in the street cabinet as the Openreach lad wasn’t sure!)

it is an ECI rather than the Huawei modem we got at work, although the DSLAMs there are Fujitsu or Huawei whilst the ones here are Ericsson

we are connected! you can see the Ericsson DSLAM connecting raaa after the grey text which appears when there is no link
(some bits are removed from this for security reasons)

A few things today actually…..
1. I found my keys, they were outside by the fuckin door! (lucky as fook)
2. the puppies are just too damned cute to be angry around.
3. I watched the Time Team special earlier, it was awesome. I love neolithic/monolithic/viking history.
4. I learnt to make barista style latte’s today (I’m pro already)
5. I smoked a phat spliff I forgot about from christmas.

Pretty good so far. Gonna get some map mods for ETS2, bulk up my extensive Black metal collection…….
