One of my mates is doing a forensic psychology masters
and would like to get as many peeps opinions to complete an approx 120 question …(or so questionnaire ) about their opinions of the police and your attitudes towards them etc…..
I said to him I’m sure there are a lot of people here with strong opinions and this is what he needs – a really good cross section of society to answer – not just your average daily mail reading joe ….
let me know if you think its worth posting here or not
thanks :group_hug:group_hug
November 10, 2010 at 10:18 pm #1231137yes, if you get him to stick it on surveymonkey and post the link, thats what all the other uni people (and even my local Council!) do
November 10, 2010 at 10:19 pm #1231133AnonymousHi Tank Girl ,
What you mean experiences of the police ? or how good a job they do ?Now im not gonna slag them too much but ……they out of all the emergency services kill more people on the road than fire and ambulance . Maybe as not all police drivers are erd trained ( emergency response Driving ) .
Also personal experience . I once rang the local police station to tell them about automatic gun fire in some fields just down from where i lived ……peterborough at the time . it took 25 minutes to get through to the right depatment …..lucky they wasnt shooting at me !!! . And when i did they said ; you sure its not shot guns going off in quick succession ? I did explain that ive heard automatic gun fire before …no joy . Infact it went on for three days after i phoned . They said it was private land but they would send a officer down to see if the site was good for shooting such weapons .
The fields are between an industrial site , and dual carriage way and a houseing estate …..not exactly gun range material . And i know they were assault rifle type weapons …so what do you think ? ………police couldnt be asked ?
I know some ex coppers as well , and in there defense from what they told me . They are tied up with red tape and a shit load of paper work . One nick say just for shop lifting can take two hours !!!! . Thats fucking mad , two hours of them stuck in the station .
Also i heard they only solve 1-4 reported crimes !!!! , now say the ambulance or fire only sorted 1-4 incidents how mad would everyone feel ?
They have a hard job , no one wants to see a copper and if they do they think its bad news . And i think as in every job there is good and bad , but i think the police today are stopped from doing their jobs from red tape and paper work .
Also i know from a friend that police have a quota of nicks for the month ….how fucked up is that . You apply that to fire and Ambulance , you’d have ambulance crews running people over just so they could take them to hospital . And fire crew burning down houses just to get that quota in .
Its not the people on the ground its the dicks way up incharge …..but then isnt that the same for all of us ?
Regards
Mungo

all doneregards
MungoNovember 18, 2010 at 11:47 am #1231148This is lacking in a ‘no opinion’ option. It’s asking me to comment on whether residents in my area would react in a particular way but I have absolutely no reason to have an opinion on this I have not seen them reacting to anything. I know what I see on the streets but have no idea if a neighbour would report it to the police or whatever. Also I’ve never seen any gangs but there may or may not be some causing problems, etc
November 18, 2010 at 11:54 am #1231138most of my neighbours would and do report stuff like cars being smashed up but not youths simply being boisterous or even smoking a spliff…
I would have thought it would also depend on how well you know your neighbours. I get on well with both of my immediate ones but don’t know many other folk on the street. However I can get an idea from the SNT websites who is reporting crimes in which streets because they are listed there. I can’t get a better idea of who is talking to the OB though now they have Airwave radios 😉
November 18, 2010 at 1:29 pm #1231149ive never even seen my immediate neighbours! I wonder if i even have any
