Going to make something similar to this… http://www.djdeckstands.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=178

Must be cheaper to buy the MDF, get it cut, and then glue it together yourself… Might not look as professional, but how hard can it be ? 😉

Anyone made one, got any tips or plans to share ?

Nah, it wont be that hard to build as long as you’ve got all the tools? if your gonna make that exact one, then make sure you’ve got a router, a plane and a fair few clamps, cos youre gonna need them!

Also if you make it out of mdf, that is gonna weigh a tonne! u could look into maybe changin segments for plywood or maybe a lighter soft wood (w outer venir for appearance?)

Other than that just make sure you have a really really good worksurace to work on, cos i swear everytime one of my projects has gone majorly wrong its cos of havin a bad worksurface

neway best of luck! (post pics when its built!)

Buy the 90 degree bits of metal to brace the corners for extra rigidity and make sure you have the right size screws for the job. A nice big handle on the screwdriver is always handy as are posidrive screws. A plane will likely be handy for finishing the edges though you can get away with a sander if you are patient. Remember to paint it if its MDF [unless it has a finish on it already] to seal in the dust and stop it absorbing water:wink:

A good wood yard will cut it to size for you

Maybe consider screwing it to the wall for extra strength?
