The Evening Standard is talking about a strain of cannabis which hasn’t actually killed anyone. It is, apparently, a killer strain as a few killings have been carried out by people who happened to have used it. What a load of shit, a bet it wasnt even the same weed that they had smoked. I also reckon the killers may have shared a few other things in common aswell, maybe they had also smoked cigarettes that day or had a bacon sandwich in the morning or maybe all the killers were wareing (sp) trainers?! Theres no sensationalist story about killer Reeboks tho is there…http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23416670-details/Deadly+skunk+floods+city/article.do

October 16, 2007 at 10:15 pm #1122635They think its deadly because of cases like….
No one actually dies directly from smoking weed. Fair play lung diseases associated with smoking and all the other risks still apply, but they are no different based on the THC levels of the weed.
Its all a bit crazy such as the link with schizophrenia, which is a bit of a confusing one. I keep hearing of all these studies which link the two but not even the government seems sure.
Quote:The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs reported that “The other main concern about the chronic use of cannabis is whether it can lead to mental illness (especially schizophrenia). … no clear causal link has been demonstrated.” (from ‘The classification of cannabis under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971′)

The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee wrote that “…we do not believe that it can cause schizophrenia in a previously well user with no predisposition to develop the disease” (from ‘Cannabis: The Scientific And Medical Evidence‘ )

The Royal College of Psychiatrists has been quoted as saying that “there is little evidence that cannabis use can precipitate schizophrenia or other mental illness in those not already predisposed to it” (quoted in the Lord’s Hansard text of 14th January 2004).I find it tends to help with quite a few things and its definatley not just me. Even scientists aggree.

and its not just them saying it helps a lot of medi users seem to think its worth fighting for. With these people being willing to risk jail for it.
Anyhow this is a very one sided view on the health risks but if you want to read the three main reports the government is basing their claims about schizophrenia then they are here.

And a bit on how they come to their conclusions 😉

Also one risk that is quite important especially with younger and younger tokers joining the circle is the dangers of emphysema.

Its difficult to prove the link but its one of the few theories that make sense and is worth worrying about. So do away with the damp skunk and the scum bar and demand good quality dry weed. This and a nice vapouriser wont prevent the damage but should hopefully minimise the risks.
Anyway this isn’t me saying cannabis is safe. Treat it with respect and you should be fine. If anything its the draconian drugs laws that create the mental issues you can link to the reefer….blah de blah blah.
