My initial thoughts r – ooer what’s this about? Strange indeed.

June 10, 2008 at 1:55 pm #1174067unfortunately the stranding of dolphins and other marine mammals happens more often these days although not always in such numbers, its part of nature as everyone (including humans) competes for the resource of the sea.. (bear in mind we send a ton of electromagnetic signals into the sea to find out where fish are etc…)
at least loads of people with useful skills and resources responded and they did save 40 of them

for those of us living by the coast this is what to do if you see a stranded cetacean…
June 10, 2008 at 2:05 pm #1174075“It should be remembered that diseases can be transmitted from the dead bodies of mammals to humans, so care should be taken and no contact made with the animal until the appropriate protective clothing, such as thick rubber gloves, is available. Such infections are called Zoonoses”.
ha ha you can catch zoonoses?! if thats not worth touching a dead whale i dont know what is!

June 10, 2008 at 9:22 pm #1174072I know they are amazing creatures and its a shame they died but I can’t help but wonder what they taste like.
It could be a hog roast with an interesting twist.

In Taiji, the fishermen say that dolphin tastes like venison or beef. But eaten raw with a dab of ginger and soy sauce, the glistening dark flesh resembles liver with a coppery aftertaste that lingers on the roof of the mouth long after you’ve chewed it past your protesting taste buds. The ripe, tangy smell stays longer. “I hate cutting up dolphin,” says Motohata Toshihiro, who runs a nearby whale-meat shop. “The stink stays on you for days, even after several baths.”
June 11, 2008 at 10:11 am #1174073I love venison especially slow roasted over flames so it sounds like the type of thing I’d be up for eating. Smells don’t bother me too much either I bet its nothing compared to half of my mates feet.
June 11, 2008 at 8:23 pm #1174088its sad 🙁 i saw it in the papers at work today
i blame the navy! fuckers. humans always are the ones to blame!June 11, 2008 at 9:07 pm #1174076rachus;221676 wrote:its sad 🙁 i saw it in the papers at work today
i blame the navy! fuckers. humans always are the ones to blame!yeah, now its coming out that not only was there a sub there, there was also a ship and a contolled explosion and one of them was doing sonar tests, but obviously that is all just a complete coincidence and has nothing to do with the dolphins beaching!:you_crazy
June 11, 2008 at 9:23 pm #1174086dont be so fucking stupid, the navy? are you joking the navy do thoose standard tests all around the coast including this area , all the time so why isnt it theres 26 dead dolphins monthly its ridiculous all of a sudden the dolhpins care theres always navy tests going on and theres not always dead dolphins dont have to have been schooled to realise the navy had nothing to do with it , and even if they did british sea power is important

June 11, 2008 at 9:39 pm #1174087nope i just think there the easiest people to blame and they have done nothing wrong , but my bad on the frnech i apologise for calling anybody fucking stupid i just dont think its the navy soz
June 11, 2008 at 10:06 pm #1174083Well my two cents on this is that the dolphins were Iranian trained dolphins, which were probing our sea defences. Our Navy caught em and stopped em before they could unleash small thermonuclear devices which would obliterate the UK. God bless the Royal Navy! 😉
PS This has to be the most logical answer

okay you’ve convinced me.
June 12, 2008 at 11:22 am #1174081IMO its obviously some kind of mass suicide, All these dolphins meet a charasmatic fella outside the church tells them what they want to hear.
Next thing they’ve signed over all there savings and are living on a farm in the middle of the sea.
Then the leader decides there all going to a ‘better’ place.
But if youre a dolphin how do you kill yourself?
poison wont work, as soon as you open the bottle underwater it all leaks out and gets diluted.
Theres only one thing for it mass beaching. Its Wako all over again.
June 12, 2008 at 1:03 pm #1174070Apparently this is common as dolphins have to make a concious effort to breathe so if their lives aren’t worth living they stop breathing – this has happened with dolphins in captivity when badly treated…
As for the Navy sonar kit, I am sceptical as to whether this would be the cause. The whole idea of this equipment would be to covertly monitor the presence of objects in the sea. If it caused a heap of dead marine mammals to turn up the shore, this is a bit of a giveaway..
June 12, 2008 at 1:08 pm #1174084Well when im in the Navy, i shall let everyone know if dolphins are on the navy’s target lists. 😉
