i just remembered, i was at a party last weekend, i’d been on a bit of the ole confusion powder when suddenly the dance floor opens up, someones on the floor having a fit, i cleared some space, some people went down to see what was going on. at this point i was a bit shocked, scared, concerned. i mean at a rave there’s a fair few illegal substances going on. thoughts were, was it drug related, could have been epileptic, i dont know, they got the person out of the room, people stood round for about a second, and then there were people dancing like nothing had happened. it left me questioning wether anything had actually happened, or had i just imagined it. dunno it was just kinda a weird experience. i dont blame people for acting like nothing happened, i mean people down want something like that to bring their whole night down, and was probably the best thing to do, but yeah, wonder whaat happened, what caused it, and hope that they were ok… any other experiences like this happened to anyone?

if it was epilepsi it could have been triggered by drugs or the flashing light..:hopeless: or both..

I have seen some folks very past their sell by dates in my time but not usually on the dance floor itself – generally they are sitting on the side lines by the time I get to them

A variety of things could cause people to collapse, dance floor or not, including epilepsy, diabetic crisis, exhaustion, overheating, drugs [take your pick] and getting them to a quieter, cooler place is always a good starting point for first aiders if the person in question has vital signs and does not need ressuscitation/cpr

I think its an experience all of us would have found disturbing and I hope the person was ok too

people collapsing/having fits is actually a fairly common occurence TBH at raves and parties – and also at sports events, during military training or any other event where people push their bodies to the limit.

At most unlicensed events people actually deal with it very quickly (there are often a suprising number of off-duty NHS staff and other people with medical or training (either human or vet, vets and vet nurses are just as good if not better in an emergency!)

Although it may look like a lot of people “aren’t doing anything”, what is more often the case is those who can help are moving in and others do not want to crowd them nor block access to any paramedics if they require access.

however the bulk of these people make a full recovery once they have been removed to a quieter area and given a space to rest.

Of course if there are any signs of breathing difficulties or heart problems then the Ambulance service should be called on 999, by someone who actually knows the location well and can give directions if necessary.

Yes it will often mean that the Police will attend as well (although not always, and sometimes they just lurk on the sidelines) and it may mean that the party has to shut down earlier because of this but peoples lives are worth more than a party continuing…

incidentally I think people are actually safer at many unlicensed events as they are less often overcrowded as there is less profit motive (which makes people fill the buildings) and at legal events people “leave it up to the management or paramedics”

I hate to see people collapsin at partys, its a bad sign and puts me on a paranoia! London party just gone sum girl that had blatently done too much K had collapsed, and turns out i was only a couple of meters away! Although i was close, i couldnt do anything because i froze (caused by fear or drugs?), luckily plenty of people ran to help but its a dark occurance. Its always gonna happen im afraid, its just part of the parcel.

i was at a rave at geirge the 4th in brixton not too long ago, and i was chatting to some people about k. i pointed to some girl looking fucked and dribbling sitting down, and i pointed out that i wouldnt be able to tell if she was just on a k binge, or had been rohypnoled. there was a guy “looking after her”. the two i was chattign to shared my concern, and we went to check it out. the bloke scarpered, and it turned out he had slipped her a mickey. she was taken to hospital by one of the crew, but if we hadnt been chatting about it, or if we hadent checked, god knows what could have happened to her. at least on e its obvious if someone is up or down on it, with K you just cant tell.
